“Dad, I told you he doesn’t like asparagus” Benjamin said as he set the table and Matthew sighed before looking around at his son “We’ll have plenty of other things for him to eat, I promise” 

Bringing the dishes over Matthew put them in the center of the table “I know it’s just....this is his first time meeting you and I want it to go well” With a nod his father put a hand on his son’s shoulder “As long as he’s respectful and treats you well I’ll have no problems with him”

As if on cue the ringing of the doorbell signaled the guy’s arrival “Go get the door and I’ll finish up here”

Alison had been extremely anxious since everything went down, between her brother, her best friends, and her cousin being injured, she wasn’t exactly sure how to manage it all, especially when it had been at such a high before. Alison had been barely sleeping, not being able to calm her mind down enough. They were sitting at the counter, their eyes looking at the Quidditch plays they had in front of them to try and distract them, but not really focusing on it. Her mind was running a mile a minute and she felt like she wasn’t her, she felt like she was just looking at a version of her, something that often happened when her anxiety got too much for her, it was a way of protecting herself from all the intense feelings. She didn’t even notice Nate talking to her, until the end of his sentence. She turned. “Sorry, what did you say?” she asked.

In her typical fashion, Rhia shamelessly interrogated their mutuals until one of them eventually disclosed what chalet Nate was staying in. She couldn’t text him, uncertain if he would embrace her attempt to reach out. So, she took the initiative to show up at his doorstep unannounced yet again. It almost gave her a sense of normalcy; she dolled herself up with lovely scents and shades before leaving to face him. Rhia was desperate to claw her way up from her standing with him, yet a large part of her screamed she fucked it up for good. Her knuckles rapped lightly on the door, before retreating behind her back.

“Hi,” she expressed softly upon seeing his face again. “Sorry for, uh, dropping in like this.” Rhia couldn’t hold his eye, instead her face tilted downward while she stole the occasional glance. “Do you mind if I come in?”

She couldn’t recall how long she looked for him; though her determination to reunite with her date kept her going. Rhia wondered how long it’d taken for Nate to retreat from the gala, the thought she’d kept him waiting bittersweet. Her chest exploded when she spotted his brown hair, his stature fitted into his suit jacket. Her heels clacked as she shuffled toward where he was seated, a goofy grin on her face that nearly made her eyes shut. Rhia failed to halt elegantly, instead clumsily colliding into Nate’s chest.

She fell into his lap and draped her arms around his neck. Warmth radiated from his skin, his familiar scent washed over her as she gently nuzzled his jaw. An affectionate gesture, to say the least, one she could possibly get away with in her current state. Her fingers crawled along his upper back, tracing curves and ridges as if deciphering brail. “Hello,” she sighed into his skin, overwhelmed how soothing his touch was. She stayed there, embracing everything about his presence. Then she blinked, reluctantly pulling away from his chest momentarily to admire his face, see his lips curl up from looking at her. She blinked again, attempting to feign some semblance of normal though acutely aware she was failing. Her fingers found his collar, and she grazed the skin lining the fabric. “How are you?” she cooed, grinning cheekily again. “Did you miss your beautiful date like I did?” Rhia teased, unable to help her sprawling hand from squeezing his cheeks and rubbing his scruff.

“Let me guess; this has to be something of yours.” Colm stated holding up the toy or memorabilia. He wasn’t sure exactly what it was, only that from what he’d heard, it was pretty popular in the muggle world.

“Took you long enough.” The corners of her lips lifted slightly into a warm smile as Bria leaned against the door after opening it for him, taking a moment to let her eyes linger on Nate before letting out a sigh and turning to walk inside, “Come on, I got you a surprise.” It didn’t take much for Bria to know when Nate was going through something, at this point she’d been able to note his patterns and behaviors enough, and if not that her intuition told her what she needed. This was precisely why she’d ran to the closest store to get Vegemite, something she still absolutely hated no matter how much Nate persisted on its greatness. Despite the time they’d been apart, Bria still got light flutters in her stomach when it came to moments of just the two of them, like the ones she had right now. “Look. Vegemite. All for you.” She held out after retrieving it from the table, sure she wouldn’t get much of a reaction out of him, but knowing it would help him feel a bit better was enough for the girl.

Jamie was walking back to his apartment, after work that evening, it was a long day and he was just trying to keep himself busy. He had been doing a lot the last week and getting himself back to the way he was before him and Nate. As he was walking home he noticed a poster about an Open Mic but before he could get past it, he noticed Nates face on it, he was very confused, Nate never mentioned he could sing and this was something he never expected Nate to do. He laughed a little before he saw there were two posters so he pulled one off the notice board before heading towards Nates apartment. As he got to the apartment, he knocked on the door. As he saw it open he laughed a little before smiling at the guy. “Hi, you never told me you could sing.” He stated holding the poster up.
