Help Is Appreciated ||Pearl and Jeremy
Jeremy didn’t quite know how he did it, but he did. He convinced his parents that he could handle having a job. Although it wasn’t a permanent job, as if it was more likely a one time gig, he still appreciated it. The fact that his parents trusted him with this decision was more than he could ever ask for. His parents agreed that Jeremy was the one that was going to pick the new leaseholder of a spot on Rockefeller Center that just opened. Today he was going to interview the companies who wanted to open their store on Rockefeller Center. All of them were relatively new companies, so this spot could mean a lot to all of them. Unfortunately only one of them could get it.
With a bright smile Jeremy walked into one of the offices of Rockefeller Plaza. The company, Fontaine Futuristics, would be the first company he would interview. Nervously he looked around ‘his’ office. In less than five minutes the owner of the company would walk into this office and try to convince him why his company should be there. After them it would be the turn of, Aperture Science, followed by, Black Mesa, followed by Builders league united and as last Reliable Excavation Demolition.
Five minutes felts like hours but finally he heard someone knock on his door. What followed after that were the longest hours of Jeremy’s life. None of the companies believed that he was the one that would make the final decision, and it wasn’t as if Jeremy could blame them. He still couldn’t believe that he could make the final decision. And every one of them called his parents first for confirmation. After that they would try to to convince him why they should get the spot. All of them talked for what felt like days, and all Jeremy could do was smile and nod. And of course ask them more questions from the list his parents gave him. If you asked Jeremy all of them should get them, because every one of them was very kind.
After all those interviews Jeremy decided to leave his office for some fresh air. With a binder filled with notes from the interview Jeremy left the building. He sat down on the nearest bench that wasn’t occupied yet and began re-reading his notes. But still to him every one of them deserved the spot. Having no idea what to do, and refusing to ask his parents for advice, Jeremy decided to do the first thing that came to mind. Ask a stranger for help. ‘’Excuse me, ma’am.’’ He said to the nearby stranger. ‘’Would you mind if I asked you for some advice?’’ He raised his book filled with notes. ‘’It’s quite dire.’’
