“I’d hope not after twenty years.” she teased him knowing just how funny that would be, in some sad way. “Did he have reason to threaten you?” She knew how Damon could be, but his presence was intimidating alone. It was his nature, how he was cut, but his actions always seemed to follow. “I’m not accusing you, I’m only trying to understand.” She assured him before continuing. “I tell my clients with abilities that if you don’t want them to be known, don’t use them. Most around his age have full control, if you caught him it was an accident. But if he didn’t want people to know then he shouldn’t do it openly. He should know better than to be careless if he did not want to be seen.” She had a tendency to slip into her legal ways, being more on the objective than apart of it. “I don’t read it either, I was informed by a co-worker of it. Its nothing I care about, rumors will spread one way or another. But you are right, Matt and I are friendly. Not dating, but friendly.” She reminded him, she would always be open about her own relationships. She was happy to talk about it with him, even as he ex, she was willing to have a friendship with him if they both could be mature about it. “I don’t know if I am ready to settle into a relationship, but I would like to get to know some people to have some friends in town. I barely have been able to settle in and Michael doesn’t need another man to leave his life as soon as he enters. But I have a feeling with Pearl wanting to get to know me, you will be sticking around. If you ever wanted to meet him–even if he’s not yours, he could use a strong figure. You might have questionable morals, but he could use a strong figure in his life.”
Damon shook his head, “It’s not like I did anything to provoke it....mostly.” The worst that he had done was a tad bit of stalking, but he’d given up before Matt ended up in his truck. Now, they just ran into each other from time to time, where Damon wasn’t afraid to find ways to push his buttons as much as he could. He wanted her to understand too, and explain what he could in the best way possible not to seem biased. “That makes perfect sense. But he used them anyways. In the grocery store, which I saw. Then as I was driving home he ended up in my truck out of nowhere.” It had almost given him a heart attack at the time, thankfully not getting into any accidents in the process. “The first time it was Pearl, which you can imagine how embarrassing that was for the both of us. I know that most of it is rumors, and I’m overreacting. I get that, but I needed to know.” Damon was self-aware enough to know, being something he had worked on over the last decade at the least. A small sigh of relief escaped him with them just having a friendship. It could turn into more, but at least he had more time to stop it if things still felt fishy with Matt. “I understand that. I never let anyone enter mine and Pearl’s life for that same reason.” Damon didn’t want to bring someone else in after he painted a bad light of Mandy. His eyebrows knitted together at the thought of meeting her son. “You want me to meet Michael?”
