âIâd save you if there ever was one, Avery.â she promised her, knowing that was unlikely to ever, but she still had her back. That was the main reason she was there, to watch out for her. âThe kind of person who tells their coworkers everything is the kind of person who gets broken into. He did this to himself by being a piece of shit who talks too much.â She added, knowing how that might have sounded. But she knew the human condition, people always looked for an easy target. She didnât know the guy, but if they were honest about him then she felt no guilt. âDonât, it will draw too much attention. Havenât you guys ever watched Law and Order?â She sighed letting go of Averyâs arm, knowing exactly what she needed to do.She wasnât proud to do it, but if she was worried about that she wouldnât be there. âStand back, I got this.â Ryan stepped forward, pressing her fist against the door. She concentrated trying to keep it from being bigger than intended. Fire engulfed her fist and burned a hole through the door. She relaxed her hand, reaching down and unlocking it. âWhen you can burn through most things, thereâs no need to break them.â She pushed open the door, âReady, ladies?â
âThank you, Ryan.â Her smiled growing wider as they got closer to the place. Typically, she wouldnât have been okay with causing such destruction, but they couldnât let bad guys keep treating people like nothing. Some sort of consequence was needed for that kind of behavior. Her head shook, âI havenât, not my kind of show.â Her arms falling to her side and backing away from Ryan. Avery knew she had powers, but had never witnessed them before. She hadnât seen anyoneâs but Nateâs before, her eyes going wide as she watched the flames came from nowhere. âWhoa,â she whispered, looking inside the apartment. âYou were right. Looks pretty quiet to me.â
âGod, donât get me started on how annoying he is. This is all his fault anyways.â Pearl shrugged off, not thinking twice about their actions. As soon as Ryan told them to stand back, Pearl obeyed quickly and with no hesitation, though, she found concern within her as Ryan stepped forward, before she watched with her own eyes as the girl burned a hole in the door. âHoly shit!â Pearl uttered, mouth left hanging open as she shook her head. âI knew we brought you along for good reason.â She winked to Ryan before stepping past her to get inside. âThatâs amazing.â She glanced at the hole before taking a peek around the tidy place. Rolling her eyes, she muttered, âAlright, do your worst ladies. I say we got about 5 minutes before an on duty cop drives by or somebody hears us, so make it snappy.â Dragging her baseball bat along the floor, she picked it up and swung at a side table, immediately breaking a lamp and a photo in the process. This was going to be fun.
Aubrey knew what it was like having someone who annoyed everyone and only thought of themselves. She was more than willing to oblige with whatever Pearl asked of her. Her eyes scanned for a not so obvious window when Ryan said to step back. An eyebrow raised skeptically at what the girl could even do. Her eyes went wide as the hole appeared, nodding from how impressed she was with Ryan. Aubrey followed along inside, an excitement filling her as she took in the place. It was clean, which only meant anything they did would ruin it. She chuckled as the lamp broke, running along to the bedroom to start there. Her arm swiped everything of the top of the dresser, knocking everything to the floor. This was going to be way too easy. She started rummaging through the drawers, throwing everything to the floor. âThis is pretty,â she smiled, looking over the ring she found.Â
