charlie sighed in the most contented way as he passed the blunt to the person stretched out beside him. it was a sigh of the century. a sigh that was enviable. a sigh that said “i’m in a state of mind that most people only dream of.”
the sigh embodied charlie.
he grinned wickedly before he rolled to bite ruby’s bare ass. they laughed and he growled, but that was as far as it went. they had wore each other out a half hour ago and both were far more interested in being high at the moment.
his room wasn’t as tragic as bailey and miles would tell people it was. their were clothes everywhere, but clutter was still clean in his opinion. he wouldn’t allow his space to become *gasp* dirty. could you imagine? he was sanitary in every aspect of his life.
ruby was a new addition to his roster, but they were breaking in quickly. charlie liked them quite a bit. if he had to admit it though, he would confess that he missed his #1 gal. cass understood his needs like no other. and then she totally understood him mentally too.
“where are you?” ruby asked. they blew a smoke ring.
he considered it for a moment. “stage three. pass.”
they handed him the roll and he blew a ring a little smaller than theirs. “shit. i used to be good at that. i could run rings around cass’ rings.”
“she been around here recently?”
charlie gave a sad smile. “no.”“why not? you two were pretty tight. used to think you were a thing.”
“we were pretty tight. are pretty tight. but no. never a thing. just... taking a break.”
ruby nodded. “she wanted some space.”
he didn’t like that. charlie’s brow furrowed and he gave her a curious look. “what makes you say that? and how do you know it wasn’t my idea?”
“just because. i don’t know. why, was it?”
charlie settled deeper into his bed and stared at the ceiling. “no. not really. neither of us actually said we were taking a break. it’s just... been a minute.”
“mmm.” ruby mused, slipping into either sleep or letting the weed carry her away.
charlie chewed his lip, mulling it over. why weren’t they hanging out as much? nothing was wrong. nothing had happened. but they had been spending a lot of time together. and charlie remembered it had made him a bit antsy. he wasn’t one to be exclusive, but cass had occupied his time and his bed a lot. he had felt a need to prove that he was still open. why, he had no idea. but it had caused him to separate from her a bit.
now he missed her more than he missed his own reflection. there was a sudden ache in his chest. it was subtle and tender feeling. like an old hole that wanted to be filled.charlie wanted his friend. he wanted to hear her laugh. her fingers in his hair. his hand on her ass. he missed the way her skin felt and how deep they got when they were smoking. he missed hearing her sing to herself without paying attention. he missed theo smiling at him when he stopped by the shop just to flirt with her over the counter.
damn. “i think i love her? oops.”
charlie loved cass. a lot. that didn’t mean he wanted to stick a label on each other or stop being free to see other people. in fact, he flinched at the idea. if charlie committed himself to her, that left too much room for error. he would slip up some how. and charlie simply wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he hurt her that way. hurt anyone that way. that’s why he never entered relationships. he knew he couldn’t actually be trusted.
but he did love her. that was real enough. she was his favorite and he wanted to see her desperately.
“i think everyone knows that,” ruby mumbled sleepily.
charlie grinned at the delayed response and examined the blunt. must be some really good shit.
he took a heavy pull and closed his eyes.
he’d explore the power in the paper firs before he started exploring his new found feelings.

Reagan had been out at bar and club hopping all night. She was on her way back to some guys apartment when, because he couldn’t keep his hands off of her and stop trying to take her clothes off in the street, they got picked up by the cops. The entire ride to the station she couldn’t stop thinking about the options she had for her phone call. She didn’t want to worry Greer with this, she also didn’t necessarily want to involve her parents in this. That left her with one option...Cass. As much as she was upset and angry that he left all those years ago, she needed him now. When they arrived at the station she looked at the officers, “Can I use my phone call please?” She said almost under her breath. As she was brought to the phone she was getting more nervous at Cass’ reaction, and whether or not he would pick up the phone at all. She dialed his number and listened to the line ring, her hand trembling and her breath shaky.

[He had packed through the night. Getting most of his things put in brown cardboard boxes it was almost sad how easily his life could be packed away. Writing his name on the last box he heard a knock and wiped his brow, assuming it was the movers] Come on in

Cassandra let out a heavy breath as she plopped down in front of the figure on the bed, leaning back so that she was resting against their chest, her arms wrapping around herself to interlock their fingers together. "I don't feel good, babe." She whined softly and burrowed herself deeper into their chest as she rested her head in the crook of their neck. "Cuddle with me." A soft giggle escaped her lips before she turned around and gently pushed them down on the bed grinning as she gazed into her favorite pair of eyes.
