a humble home || Remus & Lily
Lily had been situated in the same leather chair for most of her break thus far. It started in the wake of Sebastian’s party after only a short couple hours of sleep, faced then with a brutal hangover and the reality that James and her could not continue on the same way as they had been. Swathed in a heavy knitted throw, book after book piling up by her side, and with many cups of teas from her mother, it took a couple of days until Lily felt herself again. Through Christmas, and even now, this chair was where she started and ended her day. Able to hear her mother fiddling away in the kitchen around the corner, she would glance over to her father watching the telly in the sitting room which shared a space with the library nook she was in. Their house looked just like all the other red bricked structures in this industrial town, but this one was home.
Still, despite how comfortable she felt here in her first home, it was rarely a place she shared with friends. Compared to the place she considered home now, this little corner of the world in Cokeworth was incredibly bland and thoroughly muggle. Every time she looked over her town it was a shock to Lily that magic had found her in a place like this. There were only a few people Lily trusted to let into this part of her life, to meet her family, and see where her roots were planted. Remus, of course, was one of them.
Lily did a good job of looking like she was invested in her novel but she was betrayed by how often her eyes flitted towards the windows and door. A prisoner of her own mind, she had been unable to talk to anybody about recent events concerning James, her sister’s visit, and multiple concerns pertaining to one Emma Vanity. Getting a mountain of emotions off her chest was not the only reason she was excited for a visit from Remus, but it sure was a great deal of it. As soon as she heard the knock at her door, Lily was stumbling out her chair in haste, knocking her toe against a sofa leg in the process, she was across the room in moments. “Merlin, I’m so happy my instructions made any sense on how to get here.” She murmured into Remus’s shoulder as she embraced him quickly upon opening the door, arms still braced on his as she leaned back to properly smile at him. “Welcome to Cokeworth.” @remus-whoisleft
