A long day of dealing with his ever growing pile of paperwork—he was honestly beginning to believe it simply multiplied when he wasn’t around. He couldn’t surmise if it were piling on due to the extreme case load for the holiday season or he was falling behind. Being in the weeds was never good, especially in a police station where you needed to have your head in the game at a moments notice. Ricky was tired of getting stuck on dead ends and the monotony of crossing t’s and dotting i’s hundreds of times a day. “Goin’ home and straight to bed.“ the wolf grumbled to himself, trudging out of the station to the main roadway. He was beyond grumpy and more than ready to fall asleep the second his head met the pillow. Only a short cab ride home. He could manage that. There was still some hospitality in him that was able to conduct small talk if the cabbie was talkative. All that he needed to focus on was keeping his eyes open and actually getting someone to stop for him. Ricky had barely enough where-with-all to catch the car coming to him in his peripheral. His wits weren’t about him, anyone could come up to him and take him by surprise.
