I want to make a pokemon copinglink, but I have no idea where to start. I just... need to feel like I have more power to change things around me. And pokemon are anything but helpless.
Mod Bird here, sorry for the delay!
You’re right in that pokemon are strong and not helpless, often protrayed as creatures that can work alone or in teams. It doesn’t matter if the pokemon is cute and small or huge and breathes fire. In that case, it’s a matter of narrowing it down to a ‘mon you identify with the most, or feel satisfies your wants and needs.
What’s your favourite type? Let’s begin there. You have to then think if you want your c-link to be a pure type or have a secondary type. I’d suggest, in your casy anon, that the primary type be something like rock, ground, fighting, or dragon. It doesn’t have to be, though, since all ‘mon are powerful in their own way.
Make a small list of your faves and then read up on them. Read about their strengths and weaknesses. Some pokemon prefer to be alone. Some prefer to work hard day in and day out. Find the one in your list that ressonates most with your GOALS (more power to change things around you). Alternately, choose one from your list that seems most like yourself. There’s no wrong way of choosing, remember; these are all suggestions.
Go on to establish your c-link. Watch episodes of the show with the character featured in them. Read bits of the manga portraying them. When you see them, think about their powers and impact and feel them in yourself. That’s YOUR copinglink, something you can identify with now. Perhaps write about how this character, your c-link, would deal with your issues, online or in a physical diary. Make stories with them as you, put yourself into their mind when you need to cope with something. When you face an issue in real life, react how they would (within reason of course!) and feel their strength as yours.
They are powerful and resolute, I’d like think, and since they are your link, you can work with and through them to empower yourself.
I decided to text my psychiatrist about it! We shall see. Hopefully we can figure this out u.u
I think my living doll issue/obsession could be copinglinking??? My psychiatrist told me it sounded like it could be identity and part of my perfectionism...
And I am traumatized... And I do tend to have issues with reality... And the type of doll is specific...
Maybe...
Hmm...
A... Doll copinglink?
???
(just a lot of questioning ya know)
some c’linkers be like: open...the community. stop...having it be closed.
