ok so i’ve had this little plot for a while hear me out!
the world is in absolute shambles after a global disaster hits and more than half of the population has died and a good number of those remaining are injured or too old to be assets to society in the future that needs to be rebuilt. in a desperate attempt to bring the population back to where it had been and to ensure that there’s still a future generation to keep rebuilding the world, the government pools all young adults/adults and screens them, putting them through a bunch of tests and gathering as much data about their biology as possible. in doing so, they’re able to match people up to ensure the best genetic outcome so that they can make strong, healthy kids. so, you have muse A and muse B, who are matched up to be partners. and this can go so many different ways y’all like
muse A and muse B are both best friends but never in their damn lives did they think they’d be a perfect genetic fit and ? okay? yeah they guess they’re attractive but they’ve been friends for so long how are they supposed to act romantic?
muse A and muse B don’t know each other at all and just live this awkward life trying to tiptoe around each other but uh! they’re supposed to interact how are they meant to have kids ?? and it’s just awkward ice breakers and horrible attempts to get close but somehow? it works?
muse A and muse B don’t know each other at all but oh my god they fucking hate this idea it’s the worst how dare you step into my apartment and live with me how dare you breathe in my direction how the HECK ! are they gonna get along?
muse A and muse B were a couple before and damn they ended on bad terms and thought they’d never be a good fit for each other but it looks like their biology says so otherwise? and it’s so tense and there’s still residual feelings and um . maybe we should talk about what happened back before society fell into ruin ?
muse A used to go to school with muse B and muse A had the biggest crush on the latter. however, muse B never really acknowledged them, they weren’t friends, and muse B was kind of caught up in his/her own life. muse B hates the idea of being trapped with someone they don’t care about, but muse A feels like this is their second chance at snagging muse B’s heart.
muse A, the child of a powerful government official, used to bully muse B, practically a nobody, at work/school. they get paired together, and muse A is under a lot of pressure from their family to serve as a model example and help in the restoration of the population. only, muse A isn’t going anywhere near muse B -- not until muse B makes it up to muse A first, anyway.
