Malcolm, stroking Annabel’s head: You’re so tiny and adorable.

Annabel, half asleep: I could kick your ass right now.

Malcolm, looking at her with heart eyes: I know.

“I don’t think i’m in the right place,” he certainly sounded surprised at the notion, though he really should be used to portaling places he didn’t mean to. “Oh well, I guess I am here now.”

Malcolm will always say he blames his friends for lying to him and that he only wants Annabel back because he loves her so much but honestly he just can’t deal with how much he blames himself for her death. She was killed because of their relationship and given this was before the Accords he should have known that some shadowhunters would want her dead for it. He plays up the romantic side of himself for his foolish disguise but in reality that is a cruel parody of himself as he was in their relationship. He loved her so much that he ignored everything that should have made him stay away from her despite one of those things being the fact that some more extremist elements would want her dead for it and non-extremists would just kill him for it and derune her.

“You don't know what it's like to leave it all behind,” he didn’t know how Magnus did it, though perhaps the fact that none of the other warlock’s lovers were taken suddenly helped. If things had gone the way he and Annabel had wanted it to he would likely had been fine saying goodbye to her but as it was he couldn’t just let her stay gone.

“Get yourself aligned and learn how to look, how to search for the signs .” It was rare to see Malcolm doing things that didn’t involve movies but he was still a High Warlock and people did occasionally ask him for help despite his childish demeanor.

“Important question. Who do you prefer Buffy with, Spike or Angel?” It was entirely out of place in this setting but Malcolm was always concerned with love in television and movies. Besides he had been watching the entirety of Buffy due to a marathon of reruns lately.

“Ow! What was that for, I was just watching the movie.” Malcolm yelped, looking at her like a hurt puppy once the initial shock was abated. He had gotten distracted by the love story playing out on the screen and perhaps not been paying attention to anything being said.

“I just wanted you back,” he loved her, and he had been the reason for her death. They wouldn’t have hurt her if the two of them had never become more than they should have been. “To give you the time they stole from you.”
