Magic Tricks and Candy Treats

The cheering of children filled the streets as a magician summoned a small dragon to fly over the awestruck crowd. The adults just knew he had to have been using some trick, mirrors or holograms, but they never really proved it. Some bold adults or teens have stepped up to try and discredit the magician, but they never succeed. How foolish of them to try and think that they'd ever succeed when the magician knew people would try and sabotage his show and had made countermeasures for it.

One of them, a middle-aged fun wrecker, had shouted and hurled insults at him during one of his shows. He decided to call him up on the stage for a friendly- he was being petty actually- demonstration of his magic. Let's just say that the poor man had left the stage humiliated and smothered by tomatoes that flew out of the magician's top hat.

Many people have asked him how he did his magic, if it was real or just tricks he cooked up. Staying true to his occupation though, he had just replied with the famous line, "A Magician never reveals his secrets." That has never failed to frustrate so much people, but never the children, the children are always delighted by his magic and have never failed to be amazed by his shows. He replied differently once however, in an interview with a reported, he was asked how he managed to conjure up wondrous things.

"People like you have no imagination." Smiled the magician, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Author Interview with Phillip Richards

Check interview with military man and debut author Phillip Richards:

What inspired you to begin writing?

I have always been into writing, since my very early teens. I was big into science fiction and often enjoyed writing short stories, especially science fiction, but nothing more than a few pages. Much of my work was often unfinished. 

I joined the army at the age of seventeen, and as soon as I had done so, my priorities shifted. Writing was no longer important to me. 

It wasn't until March 2003 when I dreamt up an idea for a story again. 

As a young and frightened soldier sat on the border between Kuwait and Iraq waiting for the order to cross the line of departure, I found myself wondering what war might be like in the future and whether there would be more frightened soldiers like me. The idea for Combat Replacement Of War didn't manage to get itself onto a page however, for another six years when I actually began writing. Unfortunately the army is pretty good at keeping me occupied! Tell us about your latest novel in 20 words or less:  

C.R.O.W is more than just science fiction, it is about the hardship endured by soldiers at war.
