Using GSI Air-ride Machine and Fabrication’s complete back half is a no brainer when trying to accomplish one or both tasks of bagging your ’60-’87 C10 while converting it from longbed to shortbed at the same time. The GSI back half is a fully fabricated, weld-on rear clip, complete with parallel four-link and billet aluminum Watt’s link. This rear chassis section will lay the frame on a 31-inch tall tire and will fit wheels up to 15 inches wide. Follow along and watch how easy it is to take that longbed frame from tail heavy and too tall to short and slammed.
If you’re interested in racing, performance upgrades are inevitable, especially with a truck that has a Ls engine. Trucks need all of the help they can get when it comes to being on the track. From poor design to increased body mass, trucks are generally at a huge disadvantage over more traditional race vehicles. Unfortunately, in the pro-touring/autocross community, there will come a time when you have to compete against cars that are half the size of your truck and weigh in at a mere 1,000 pounds.
TCI Engineering is proud to announce the release of our new 1955-1959 Chevy and 1948-1956 Ford Trucks Grounded Chassis. The rear frame rails have been kicked up and the front cross member has been raised in order to put the cab 1” off the ground with 26” (front) & 28” (rear) tall tires.
Most factory automotive batteries are wet cell lead-acid batteries—and they are always sufficient for the power draw of your stock vehicle. If you’re adding more draw on your electrical system, you should be checking out a battery with a higher reserve capacity and amperage. While there is the obvious reason for increased battery power if winches, lights, or large stereos are added, is there a reason for upgrading to a better battery if your electrical system remains otherwise stock? In the off-road world, we’d say definitely yes. The great majority of off-roaders use AGM (absorbent glass mat) batteries that are sealed, can be mounted at any orientation, and are spill-proof—much safer for an off-road vehicle. Beyond that, an AGM replacement battery will almost always have a longer reserve capacity that will allow you to listen to the radio longer at camp or run a portable freezer/fridge for much longer.
You’ve seen Brandon Burrell's photos at some point in your auto magazine reading experience during the last 20 years. His work has appeared in Street Trucks, Truckin’, and Mini Trucking magazines on a regular basis throughout the last two decades. This man shoots it all—show coverage, tech pieces, feature stories, and cover shots. In fact, this particular Street Trucks issue marks Brandon’s 34th cover since he started out as a magazine photographer around 2001.
