“Well when did she tell you she would be arriving, Pete?” June was frazzled and looked it. Every inch of the small caravan’s kitchen counters were covered in dishes. The trailer felt more like a hothouse with the oven and June’s wand at work all afternoon.
“I dunno,” he dismissed. “Soon.” Soon was not good enough for June Pettigrew, who prided herself on her hot meals for guests, not her lukewarm ones, but thankfully a noise outside spared Peter from hearing about it. “That’s probably her now.” He wanted the couch to eat him alive.
