hey! I keep seeing on Cantana that people are reviewing it as one star. I wanted to let you know. I was just confused and had no clue what was going on. Hopefully you know what's going on.
So, the nature of having a popular game is that it’s going to be shown to a large number of people on their feed and through searches, and unfortunately, will garner some 1 star reviews. Typically these are people who are simply not my target audience. I received a 1 star review from someone who simply wrote “not interested.” I had another that wrote “Simply don't vibe with this story, but gave it a shot. Don't like fantastical games, but seems well made. Seems like a bunch of made up things to me, don't have the time to focus on this long story.” 🤦🏻♀️
These are obviously not comments about the quality of the game itself, but on this person’s particular taste. I can’t control that.
However, the most recent 1 star review actually comes from someone right here in the IF community—a fellow writer, if you can believe that. It’s someone I invited to a discord for IF writers, a community that was supposed to build positivity and support. This person then proceeded to write the most hateful vitriol against me and Cantata IN THAT DISCORD. So I blocked them and now they’re responding like any 3 year old would.
When you put yourself out there publicly, you’re going to have people who don’t like you for whatever reason. I can’t control what reviews I get or what people think of me. What I CAN control is my interactions with them and how I respond. I choose to ignore the haters and focus on the wonderful people who do like my story, who write positive and encouraging comments and reviews, who support my story and this community as a whole. The majority of my reviews are overwhelmingly positive, and for that I am grateful. ❤️
