Afterthought Digest: I feel vindicated, but also surprised at the same time. I was equally surprised on Talks to hear that Laura specifically PICKED Artagan as her patron/god at the early stages of building her character. I had always assumed she had no idea who he actually was and Matthew was toying with her as much as he was with the others. KEEPING THAT FOR 94 EPISODES? KNOWING HOW NERVOUS THE CAST WAS ABOUT HIM??? That is absolute madness. What a delight!
As for Artagan - I’m pleasantly intrigued about what his plan is. This poor Archfey spent a solid 2 or 3 episodes in the clutches of ONE extremely chaotic motley crew of misfits, who
plucked him out of the fields and made him their tour guide (Vex)
TRICKED him out of his bargain with him using wordplay (Percy)
shot-putted him 120ft away across multiple rivers (Grog)
Now his fate is literally in the hands of a single cleric who is more chaotic that all of Vox Machina combined, and her entire weird family that is Functional only by the loosest meaning of the word.
And I, for one, cannot wait to see what sort of a character he turns out to be. He’s clearly not a GOD god, but... he kind of is now? We saw one god rise to power with Vecna - he needed a grand show of faith to allow him to rise the ranks. But Artagan literally walked into a job interview as a practical joke and now he’s accidentally a CEO with no idea how to run shit. THAT is some deep seated chaos. That’s what I live for.
