catching up on cr3 and im at the faewild therapy session and i just realized the hypocrisy of the whole thing

they are there because they don't feel they can trust each other, incited by Ashton almost killing themself with the shard so they could like they had finally had some power or authority. Everyone thought that was bad, unacceptable, and a safety risk.

but when the fatestitcher allows a 4th go at the maze with the very-arbitrary stipulation that whoever falls dies, despite the whole purpose of it to be a trust exercise that keeps the group cohesive and alive, specifically because she finds it amusing... that's acceptable? there's no reprimand? no narrative recoil?

a party member killing themself for power is bad, but someone else killing a party member just because is good? why?

because she's a relative of one of the party members? because she's powerful? because she's in an official for-money splatbook? because she reminds the audience of their own vague recollection of a ghibli movie?
