For the sake of my mental health, from now on I'm choosing to believe that every queer-bait ship that is only cannon in our hearts is actually because someone on the writing team was going through it in their homoerotic friendship and needed the validation.
Or it's the bsf of the friend that is going through it tryna not so subtly tell their friend their other friend wants to jump their bones.
Okay theres this fanfic on AO3 that I CANNOT find but that just got canonized by VM's ep.
The premise is like, Vex goes to clear the sewers of Whitestone to clear away rats and finds Laudna there, and her and Percy basically adopt Laudna. IT WAS AN AMAZING READ, if someone knows it pls drop it I have got to re-read it.
[I'm kinda scared that since we're getting Laudna scenes she might be less present in Bells hells... They wouldn't do that... Right???]
[[BUT ALSO BELLS HELLS INTRO IS GONNA HIT SO GOOD SINCE IT STARTS WITH LAUDNA AND IMOGEN]]
The absolute heart wretching yet most joy bringing experience I have in life is reading ongoing works.
I'm in a slump because both of my favorite fanfics of all time are currently stuck on chapter 18-
HOWEVER.
The absolute nirvana I reached when they both updated the same month? Unadulterated. That month I spent re-reading both works and analysing where the story might go and just-
It was a slice of heaven.
(add to that that one of the fics it was a few months- but for the other IT WAS YEARS. YEARS.)
Love that Marjorie realized she was being... not a manager and is trying to course correct.
But like, she dropped the ball again - with both her staff and the nursery. Without Mia during Aut's leave, the nursery would have LITTERALLY fallen apart because all Marjorie did was snip at Mia, eat toast and drink her appetizers.
I get that she's being overly serious because her feelings got hurt but... It was a conversation between staff, staff that she overworked and underpaid as we find out because of money. It was a private conversation she overheard and is now taking out on the staff.
She litterally chose money over Charlotte and their friendship initially. Then she sided against Char during the whole post-Mia leaving thing. [Sp. Reminder: "we are supposed to leave private things at the door" - Marjorie]. -> Now she's once again reminded by Charlotte that she's dropped the ball-
And instead of having a conversation with the people that are 'like family' or actually checking herself; she's being rude and cold, threatening their job security and as fun as it is to watch her face off against Mia and Chef and not be the butt of the joke... she's being a biatch- not a manager.
~~~
I love Marj and Autumn's friendship but Aut threatening Char and Sorcha (cute in the context of Marjumn) was really not it. I really think it should be an effin convo between Marj and Char that ends this because Charlotte has always been the one to check Marjorie, and as much as I hate that Char has to go through it every time Marj needs to grow as a person... It's looking like this is going to be one of those times.
I hope Marj does get humbled by the rest of them instead of going full evil era out of insecurity, sooner rather than later because this is getting hard to watch. And I really hope she doesn't fire Char out of everyone because in all honesty out of everyone there the only person who has consistently looked out for her, tried to be her friend and been a moral compass for over a decade is Charlotte. And Marj has let her down every time.
Writers on crack running away with the plot does work. BUT it works only if those writers aren't cowards.
Success: The legends of tomorrow.
Honestly they just kept pilling on shit and focusing on the characters and it worked. It was wild- and you could skip a season without being utterly lost but the whole reason anyone was watching was the characters themselves.
(these writers straight up took to heart nearly everything the fans wanted and kept building)
Failure: Once upon a time
Beside absolutely butchering characters from (s1 - s3), killing a lot of individual progress and having the absolute worst ending for 70% of the characters that were their worst nightmares initially (not character growth as they seemed to think) they also ran out of villains and butchered the already existing charachter growth and relationships they had.
(the charmings storylines, Regina being the queen of the realms...)
I have 2 wip-s, 6 concepts and a whole tome I started writing and yet- another version of swanqueen has wormed it's way into my brain.
Hear. Me. Out.
A Mafia lieutenant! Regina x agent! Emma
Where Emma is an unconventionally recruited CI that helped to take down a (as of yet unnamed thing) as a way to reduce her time and get back to Henry who was still born in prison. When she got out she couldn't find him but an unconventional? Case officer decided she was good enough for a drug ring infiltration with her juvie? Record and she was trained and sent there with the promise of them helping her find Henry later (which they don't). She keeps working on sensitive cases until one day a kid finds her saying his mom is evil? (idk maybe Regina kept records of Emma as his birth mom).
Regina is part of the EF crime syndicate (Enchanted forest lmao) as the Boston head honcho who adopted Henry while running from the .boss™ but since then she was brought back in the fold when Daniel was murdered (to protect Henry) and has since fallen into complicity with being... evil. (She kept most of it from her kid and gold told him he's adopted to mess with Regina or something.)
Regina finds her before Emma can so much as confirm Henry's story (i have a couple of ideas on how Regina gets Emma to give her back a kid she's been searching for) and Emma ofc somehow trips some alarms while running his prints.
So many like shorts are in my brain of situations and problems that arise (bonus a Regina informant + Emma as her case officer scenes) that I can't even sleep.
I absolutely adore Emma defending Regina, stepping in between her and danger, being a gay mess more than half the time, confessing and being a patient partner fics okay...
But the Regina falling so hard she thinks she looks stupid, snarking and pushing Emma away (only to pull her back because how dare you go somewhere where I'm not), treating Emma like a princess (because she's a queen and knows how to) ARE THE SHIT.
Ah yes, let's parallel my parents meet-cute (where my mom stole something from my dad) by having our son steal your shirt for me.
Let's also parallel my parents who fought physically and verbally a lot in the beginning... by fighting verbally turned to physical a lot...
First season mind you.
Let's also have our thing be saving each other, just like my parents... who are the paragons of true love.
AND HAVE IT BE PLATONIC :)) it so isnt
The way I have to check the tags on every piece of fanart I like of a purple haired girl with a braid and lightning all over her body because it's a tossup at all times between Imogen and Rumi.
I love jealous Imogen like I love
Protective Laudna
Guilty Ferne
Goofy Orym
Positive Ashton
Berserk FCG
Comforting Chetney
Secretive Dorian
It's like a little portion of themselves that you don't really see when you look at them at first, but it's there, and it's there for a reason that is purely their humanity.
Bells Hells is about outcasts, but they genuinely do try to lean into people's first perceptions of them. Laudna tries to be creepy, Ashton leans into the fact he isn't likeable, ferne shoves her feaness wherever she can... But like they all have this little bit of them that doesn't exactly fit and is only privy to the other hells and that's it. I love em sm.
For a charachter that fights to be so blindingly positive the depth of Laudna's belief of being useless/disposable never fails to leave me shuddering.
What do you mean 'the only thing I have to give is my body'!?
The fact that the one thing Laudna really needs in her core is control (and like 95% of her outbursts were because she didn't have it) because she's had so little of it, yet the second it's looking like she could save her friends at the price of herself- baby's gonna take it?
Baby is gonna give up her agency? Her body? Her soul? Her future?
She'd give it all up if it means she gets to save her girlfriend? Her friends? The children of Exandria? Everyone but herself? Don't talk to me I'm cryin
Vibrating out of my skin thinking about seeing Imogen and Laudna animated on my screen
I just know a "The house" edits to Lord Ariks Echteross are going to hit hard when Bells Hells gets animated.
There was always something so dear to me about Lexa struggling with intense emotions. The commander of the 12 (+1) clans, the never quite reacting the way I expect her to.
Because I know a lot of fanfics make her this holier than though super controlled persona but like, canonically?
Clarke basically rejects her: *tears* (fair me too)
Azgeda ambassador arguing w her: chucks him off the top of the tower
Titus questioning her about her feelings: (disproportionate) anger
Girl has never felt emotion like a normal person. Always gotta be dramatic. (Yes I'm diving into society and trauma while writing don't @ me I'm having fun.)
Ah yes Laudna, talk to Imogen about her mother who does terrible things but she's protecting her so it's okay, and then pivot and try to break up with her because you're scared of the other power pulling at you.
I wonder if Orym regretted nodding to Laudna to devour Bor'dor when he's standing, chest heaving in fear, in front of a starving looking Laudna.
Back then Laudna had looked to him specifically for help, for someone to stop her, he gave the response of a soldier, not that of a friend. He viewed Laudna's humanity as a casualty of war, because they needed to get stronger.
This time he stood, sword pointed at Laudna and turning towards his friends to intervene, and unlike him, they do.
