I am just terrified things will go terribly, terribly wrong when they talk to the tomb takers and either Beau or Yasha will die before they really get a chance to confess their feelings and be together
At people better at writing fic than me, a concept: Beau and Caleb communicating telepathically to Lucien enough that Molly takes hold of Lucien’s consciousness. The Nein being able to briefly reunite before Molly insists that they need to kill him because Lucien is fighting back and it’s the only guarantee for him not to take back over. Then the Nein taking out Cree and being forced to watch Molly die a second time, but this time by their own hands.
I see your "one of the clerics goes down and the other has to revive them while everyone panics" angst and I raise you:
"both of the clerics go down and while the rest of the Nein are able to find someone who can do a resurrection ritual, there are only enough resources for *one* ritual."
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
The Xhorhasian infiltration of Felderwin fails, but Yeza's still missing, and all signs point towards Rexxentrum.
While scouting the back alleys of the city, the Nein are saved from a near-deadly ambush by the worst possible guardian angel: Trent Ikithon. Just like that, the casters of the party wake to discover they've been made unwilling students of the Soltryce Academy, trapped under the watchful eye of the faculty. As Caleb tries to hold his mind together in the face of Ikithon's resumed tutelage, the rest of the scattered Nein scramble to find each other, find Yeza, and most importantly, find a way to get them all out of Rexxentrum alive.
Chapter 14 - Choice
Jester deals with her new reality. Fjord makes a tough call.
oohh. Some grade A Mighty Nein angst you ask?
Someone goes down, let’s say Yasha. And Jester and Caduceus are right there, they can bring her back. The ritual is tense and there is a sense that the entire world is holding its breath. The universe itself is waiting to see what will happen. And then the moment passes and Yasha is back and Jester is so relieved that she’s hugging and crying on whoever is closest. And Yasha sits up, her hands folded in her lap. She looks up at the others gathered around her.
“You should’ve let me stay a little longer. Molly was there.”
