I got to take an extended drive with the latest version of my first car!
Let’s just say I am very impressed with the all-new A6; it’s a thoroughly well-rounded executive saloon, and one well worth carrying on the legacy of Audi’s longest-running model.
(It also feels markedly more composed and put-together than the latest crop of comparable Mercedes models, though the BMW 5 Series certainly gives it a run for its money)
The C5 A6 will forever hold a special place in my heart as the generation that began my love for Audi, and the C7 will forever be my favorite A6 for its blend of Supercharged-V6 charisma, Tiptronic dependability, exceptional quattro performance, and gorgeously tactile interior, but this C9 is a real back-to-basics calling for the A6 with the V6 being the standard engine once again, and a refocus on sophisticated, comfort-forward motoring.
I think some people may lament the loss of the slightly more aggressive and tactile experience of the C8, but this truly does remind me of the C4, C5, and C6 A6s of yesterday (just repackaged for a younger audience and more contemporary tastes).
