Carter should have seen this coming from a mile away, but he was the kind of person to cling onto the old version of someone in hopes that it would stop the inevitable from happening. He didn’t want to be in this situation right now, but he knew that it was for the best and that he would meet someone else down the line; however, it didn’t stop it from hurting any less. The words that he wanted to say weren’t forming and he honestly didn’t know where to begin in the first place. “How did we end up like this?” the male questioned finally.

Carter walked into the house with shaky fingers as his hazel hues glanced down to see the blood apparent on his bronzed skin. Everything had happened so fast that a few of the key opponents to what exactly went down were unknown to the male. He glanced up at the person who was in the room and shook his head. “H-he was going to kill her. I just, I just had to stop him,” Carter explained as his voice was laced with confusion and fear from what had just transpired a few moments before. “I had to stop him,” he repeated in a hushed whisper as he continued to stare at his bloody hands.

Carter hadn’t expected to develop a crush on Luna, but things sort of happened and now they were here. Through the darkness that his mom brought to him at home, the female was his light to guide him through. He was still getting used to the idea of having someone around that cared for him back, so he was still a bit standoffish at times. Carter stared down at the girl before him with furrowed eyebrows as she claimed that she needed to tell him something. “ What is it, babe? Everything okay? ” he asked as worry laced within his words.

“You’re a fucking imbecile,” was the voice that screamed at Carter over the phone. “Do you not understand how stupid you are? You’re not leaving this God forsaken town, Carter. I found your stash of money in your top drawer in the envelope that reads ‘Escape This Hellhole,’ clever by the way, but unfortunately for you, I spent it all,” this was the voice of Carter’s alcoholic mother, Lenzie, who verbally abused him every chance she got. His heart broke at her words about spending all of his hard earned money as his fingers trembled while holding the phone. “I hope you die from alcohol poisoning you selfish little bitch,” the male spat as he quickly disconnected the call while tears threatened to fall down his cheeks. Carter hadn’t realize that someone was near him when all of this was taking place and shrugged his shoulders. “What do you want?” he questioned as he quickly placed his sunglasses over his hazel hues in order for the stranger to not see the redness from the tears that were about to fall.

"So, I'm sitting in the bar, even though I'm underage, and this drunken male decides to hit on this woman who's clearly not interested, so needless to say, I have to be the hero and save the damsel in distress from the villain that is the drunken dude," Carter explained with a light laugh and a lick to his lips. "And that's what I did last night," he concluded.
