Hestia hated having to miss her mother’s birthday. Her entire life, her family had put a lot of value on celebrations; birthdays and anniversaries were little slices of joy to light up their lives. Excuses to have family and friends over, maybe order some food or go to the beach despite it being a weekday. Her mother had made it clear that it was completely understandable and work had to come first. That they could have a catch-up celebration come Easter and that there was nothing to worry about. That didn’t stop Hestia from feeling guilty enough to head to the nearest sweet stop, almost ready to buy half the stock to make up for her absence.
She stepped into Diggle’s Delights, quickly shutting the door behind her to stop the cold from seeping in. Once inside she took a moment to let her gaze go over the shelves as she took her gloves off. It didn’t matter how old she got - a part of her always felt slightly giddy walking into a sweets shop. The smells and sights blended together, promising a thousand flavors and brightening moods. Hestia barely got a few steps in before getting distracted by an offer, then a new stock she hadn’t seen. After two more stops in as many steps, she admitted defeat, realizing that she could let herself get distracted for hours. So she stepped up to the counter, smile on her face.
Somehow, she hadn’t expected to find the shop’s namesake in it but it was always pleasant surprise to see a familiar face. «Hello,» she greeted Dedalus, her smile brightening a bit. Hestia leaned forward. «Do you have any recommendations for parent-friendly candy? Every time I’ve been in a candy-store I’ve ended up with something that jumps, moves or explodes, so I’m a bit lost.”
