This was a bad idea. Nothing good was going to come out of putting himself quite literally in the coven’s crosshairs, but he had found Avery was particularly difficult to say no to. After all, the agreement was protection and how could Gabe be of any protective value all the way over at the Forts if Avery was at the party and vice versa? It was hard to argue and so reluctantly, Gabriel’d allowed the manic fae who never seemed to stray long from Avery’s side to dress him for said festivities, in festive silks complete with actual holly woven into his hair.
He looked ridiculous.
But he left well enough alone and trailed after the fae, deciding it was best to remain as much out of sight as he could and find a post to just oversee the party. In searching for the perfect hidden spot, this time it was him who found someone had already taken it and had to shoot the man a playfully annoyed huff. “Alright, fair enough, this time you beat me to the best place for solitude. May I join you?”
It was tucked away and perfect. Nobody’d Gabe was maybe kind of avoiding would find him here and he could make a quick break to Avery’s side if needed. Win-win. He was actually kind of pleased to find Erasmus there because he’d decided the other was one of the rare few who made an acceptable exception when seeking out solitude and hadn’t expected to run into him here of all places.
