There were two things that were undeniably true.
The first was that Polly had been missing for over a month. Polly had, from an early age, been prone to wandering. There were times when they fell off the face of the planet for a few days, only to resurface as though nothing had ever happened. Ruth, who had been Polly’s friend for many years, knew this, but a month was far too long, and not like them at all.
The second was, that now they had appeared, there was something different about Polly. It wasn’t just the slight limp they were walking with, or the gravel in their voice that wasn’t there before. It was the clothes they wore now - made by their own hands from fabric Zoya had gifted, but still undeniably far from their previous attire, the same blouse-and-skirt combination they had been wearing for years.
But now, Polly was here, and clad in a soft grey dress they had only finished making that morning, bundled in a warm coat that had been gifted to them. They didn’t look rich, not exactly, but they looked respectable. The scarf, borrowed from Zoya, covered the injury on their neck, healing nicely at this point.
It would be understandable if Ruth had questions - but Polly didn’t want to answr them. Not yet, anyway. They simply weren’t ready. And so, they walked around the fair, arm in arm, like a pair of friends without a care in the world.
“Do you want to go on the chair-o-planes with me?” Polly asked, pausing by the ride and looking up at it. The lights reflected in their dark eyes, and they smiled. “I’ve never been on anything like it before. Have you? It looks awfully... dizzy.” They still wanted a go, though, even if Ruth didn’t. They would simply have to beg her.

↳ day 3: least favourite female (ruth wardell)
turns out there's not actually female character i really hate (unlike with the males who i had choice between two) but ruth is probably one of the few female characters i'm not the biggest fan of. if they made her less crazily obsessed with wilford then i'd probably like her more but watching her i just want to give her a snickers and tell her to calm the fuck down. i did love the speech she gave the train in episode six though.

Ruth, a quiet gal possessed by a set of very violent spectral arms that make her life hell. I played her as an Astral Self Monk in a few campaigns but none ever seemed to last long, but she was still fun to play as I got to be cute in roleplay while fulfilling my thirst for blood in combat. 2020-07-09
Some meme expression redraws! 2022-02-18
Secretly these were all tests of D&D characters that would be expy'd for Mars.
Some bits and bobs from Ruth's first campaign! She was an Astral monk fluffed as being possessed by a violent spirit, so I could roleplay as a sweet little bean but then still sate my bloodthirst in battle. The campaign got off to a good start with a haunted jail dungeon crawl but then swung into Law & Order Supernatural Victims Unit and just got... bad... so I dropped out. But there were lots of fun moments with the party.
Doggo guy was very outspoken!
He liked the blood thirsty spirit more than Ruth did lmao
oh no, a love triangle!?
