Night Out (Part one)

Summary: Ben loses his fight, then goes out to the bar with Sophia and Vivian. Things are tense and awkward.

Benjamin-Last Monday at 4:34 PM

Ben had more than one reason to be nervous tonight. Not only was he probably about to get his ass kicked, it was going to happen in front of his ex-girlfriend and... Vivian, whatever she was at the moment. If it were acceptable to drink before a fight, he definitely would have tonight. He was able to put his game face on as the music started playing and he walked out to the ring. He had to completely tune the audience out as he stared at the much bigger man in front of him. Why did he agree to this fight again? As the ref blew his whistle, Ben threw caution to the wind and began to fight hard. He didn't go down as easily as he had expected, but he did take several hard hits before he was on the floor. That was just round one.

Wiping the blood from his nose, he hopped up and bounced on his heels to recover. When round two started, his adrenaline was pumping and he managed to take his opponent down within a couple of minutes. That meant there was one more round and he wasn't sure how this was going to go as he and his opponent glared at one another. The second the bell rang, their normal slow tactics were out the window and they lunged at one another. It was a close fight, one that had Ben bruised and bloodier than he had been in a long time, and he ultimately lost. He hadn't truly lost without throwing a fight in a long time and he was upset about it, no matter how much he knew it was going to happen. He punched the floor before he got up and his friend on the sidelines grabbed him to help him with his injuries. The crowd was calming down and leaving now as the night ended so he was easy to spot next to the ring.

Sophia-Last Monday at 4:58 PM

Sophia finally took her seat with a good view of the ring. It had been a while since she had been to one of these. She wasn't a fan of watching Ben get into fights and was more than afraid to see him lose if he did. Chewing on her lip, she heard the music play and the fight begin. Her hands gripped her bag as she watched, growing nervous to see what was going to happen. The other guy looked huge, who could basically kill her with one finger. Worry took over as she watched Ben hit the ground. "Come on Ben, you can do this." She murmured as though Ben could hear her. Round two, his opponent was down leading Sophia to cheer on Ben for it. "Wooo!" she hollered out, as she clapped excitedly. It had gotten intense as she watched the next round, the blood and bruise on Ben made a knot in her stomach, but now wasn't the time to worry. Her shoulders dropped when it was over and saw that his opponent had won. She knew that was going to upset Ben because she knew how much it made him feel accomplished if he had won. As the fight was over, she got up quickly to go meet Ben. "Hey." She said, when she approached him.

Vivian-Last Monday at 5:07 PM

Going to the fight, Vivian had her game face on. She was excited to see Ben, but also nervous. She still wasn't sure what was going on between the two of them, but she was glad he had invited her tonight. As she made her way to where the fight would be, she thought about how she had just recently met his ex girlfriend, Sophia. It made her feel uneasy. Vivian was the jealous type, and she didn't want to piss all over Ben, but she would mark her territory if she had to.She sat down and watched the fight with a mixture of unease and excitement. She cheered loud whenever Ben got a hit, but then closed her eyes whenever he was hit. It was literally hurting her to see him battered up and bruised like that, and she vowed that she was going to do whatever she could tonight to cheer him up. When the fight ended, she got out of her seat to go look for Ben. She saw him in the distance and smiled, but then saw that a woman was already there talking to him, and she raised an eyebrow. She walked over confidently. Not bothering to say hello, she took Ben's face gently and gave him a small kiss on one of the only parts of his face that wasn't injured, on one of his cheeks.

Ben looked up at Sophia as she walked over, wincing as his friend pressed a cloth to his nose. "Hey. First fight you come to in a long time and I get my ass beat. I'm super stoked about it." He said sarcastically. As Vivian approached, he smiled at her softly. "Hey you. Um, Sophia this is the woman I was telling you about- Vivian. Vivian, this is Sophia. My friend." He said the last part hesitantly, unsure if he should mention they were exes.

(shit i forgot that vivian doesn't know that ben and sophia are exes but she is talking to sophia in another conversation so i'll make sure it comes up so she knows before the fight)

Sophia-Last Monday at 5:19 PM

"Hey you did awesome out there. So what if you lost, the next one will be yours. Plus, i give you hell of a lot of respect to be going up against that giant ass dude." She said with a smile to show support in him. When she saw Vivian approach and give him a small kiss on his cheek, her gaze quickly shifted away for the moment until Ben spoke again. Her eyes fell on Vivian and nodded, "We've met." she said, giving her a small.

Vivian-Last Monday at 5:22 PM

"I agree, it's not like he came out unscathed. He looked pretty rough too," Vivian said with a nod. She gave Ben another look and sighed. "You look like you're in pain though, can I get you anything?" She looked at Sophia and gave her a bright smile, even though she had no idea that Sophia was going to be here. "Hey! How are you?"

Benjamin-Last Monday at 5:24 PM

"Thanks guys. I'm not too torn up about it, but it always sucks to lose." He scrunched his nose. "Oh.. You know each other?" He asked in surprise.

Sophia-Last Monday at 5:37 PM

"Yeah we met earlier." She answered. "She's uh, she's cool Ben." She added before looking at Vivian, "Like i said, he's a good one..I should probably go, let you two enjoy the rest of the evening together."

Vivian-Last Monday at 5:43 PM

Vivian cleared her throat, unsure of what to say. She could feel the awkwardness seeping through her skin. She looked to Ben for guidance, not sure what he wanted to do. It was his night and his decision, she would go along with whatever he said. If he wanted her to leave instead of Sophia, she would be pissed, but she wouldn’t argue. ‘I guess I am maturing,’ she thought.

Benjamin-Last Monday at 5:55 PM

Ben felt the tension in the air, but he was focused on his injuries at the moment. "You don't need to go if you don't want to, Sophia. I'm glad you came. It's been a long time since you've come to one of my fights." He said and reached over for Vivian's hand.

Sophia-Last Monday at 6:00 PM

Sophia adjusted the bag on her shoulder, her eyes shooting down at his hands reaching for Vivian's then nods a bit, "Yeah okay. I'll stay for a bit longer. "Do you want me to get you anything at least?"

Vivian-Last Monday at 6:08 PM

Vivian felt warm inside when Ben went to hold her hand, and she gave it a little squeeze. She hoped he couldn’t feel that her hands were shaking, because as much as she wanted to be confident, she was feeling anxious. She had been having anxiety on and off all day, and she felt a bit of it coming back now. It was probably just the combination of feeling threatened by Sophia, seeing Ben get hurt, and that there was a lot of people here. She took a step closer to Ben. “Yeah, no need to rush out of here,” She said to Sophia with a smile.

Benjamin-Last Monday at 6:11 PM

"Oh, no. I don't need anything. Thank you though." He smiled. Ben wasn't sure what to say next, so he got up and stretched. "I can take care of the rest, man. Thanks for helping out tonight." He bumped fists with his friend, who proceeded to leave. "Do you guys want to go grab a drink? I can use a beer after that."

Sophia-Last Monday at 6:21 PM

Sophia nodded and causally took a step back to give them space. “Drinks sound good.” She responded. “I can drive us to the bar.” She offered.

Vivian-Last Monday at 6:27 PM

“I could use a drink,” Vivian nodded. “That would be great if you could drive, Sophia.” Vivian had taken an Uber here - she didn’t have her own car. “Let’s let the badass pick the bar,” She said with a smile, looking to Ben.

Benjamin-Last Monday at 7:03 PM

Ben laughed lightly, rolling his eyes. "I'm gonna go put some clothes on real quick and then I'll pick a bar." He said as he disappeared into the gym locker room. He was quick to get dressed and tried to clean his face up a little more, wanting to be quick so they weren't alone to make things awkward for too long.

Sophia-Last Monday at 7:08 PM

Nodding, Sophia rummaged through her bag to find her keys as Ben took off to clean himself up. Once she took them out, she sat down on the nearest seat to wait then looked over at Vivian. "So..."

Vivian-Last Monday at 7:11 PM

Vivian sat down beside Sophia. “It’s kinda rough to go to these things,” She said, “I hate seeing people get hurt, especially people I care about.” She didn’t really know what to say, but she was trying to be friendly.

Benjamin-Last Monday at 7:14 PM

Ben reemerged moments later and stood in front of them. It was weird to see the two sitting together, but he was glad they were getting along. "Shall we go? I was thinking we could go to WestEnd? Seems like a good place to be tonight." He said as he began to walk out of the building.

Sophia-Last Monday at 7:15 PM

"Yeah, it was tough to watch him fight and get hurt. It was difficult for me to support him in because i got worried it would get so bad to the point he could end up with some serious damage." she explained. When Ben came back, she got up and started out the building as well.

Vivian-Last Monday at 7:19 PM

Vivian thought about what Sophia had said and let it sit with her for a minute. “Yeah,” was all she could say, and then Ben came back. “That sounds like a good idea,” She smiled, following him. She reached for his hand as they walked.

Benjamin-Last Monday at 7:22 PM

Ben got into Sophia's car, deciding to sit in the back with Vivian. He put his arm around her and sighed as he rest his head against the back of the seat. "Should we invite some more people?" He asked, not wanting Sophia to feel like a third wheel. "My friends are probably out and would come hang out with us."

Sophia-Last Monday at 7:29 PM

Sophia climbed into the driver's seat, turns on the car and pulls out of the parking lot. "If you want." She answered, glancing into the rearview mirror then at the road.

Vivian-Last Monday at 7:35 PM

Vivian leaned against Ben’s shoulder, still not feeling too well. “It’s up to you, babe,” She said quietly, and then covered her face with her hands, not meaning to say babe. It just came out. She looked at Ben apologetically.

Benjamin-Last Monday at 7:38 PM

Ben wasn't entirely sure where he and Vivian were standing right now, other than that they liked one another and they were enjoying the company. He didn't mind the slip, but he was worried about Sophia's feelings for reasons that were unknown to him. She had broken up with him, so surely she wouldn't care that he was seeing other people. He pulled his phone out, deciding it was a good time to ignore everything and text his friends to let them know what bar they would be out. He left out his more.. Individualistic buddies so things wouldn't get too rowdy. "Hopefully, they are still serving some kind of food there because I'm starving."

Sophia-Last Monday at 7:44 PM

Sophia rested into her seat more as she drove. It didn't take long to get to the bar; pulling up into a parking spot and got out. She started for the bar, without waiting for the others. She opened the door, holding it open for them then walks in. She glanced around until she found a table for them , sitting in a seat.

Vivian-Last Monday at 7:51 PM

Vivian didn’t say anything. When they got there, she followed Sophia into the bar and then to the table but she didn’t sit. “What do you guys want to drink?” She asked, planning to go up to the bar.

Ben felt like this night was altogether a bad idea. From the fight to Vivian and Sophia spending time together. He was worried this wouldn't end well. He sat down and smiled at Vivian. "I'll just have a Pabst." He nodded her way, then looked at Sophia. "Are you cool with all of this?" He asked her.

Sophia-Last Monday at 7:58 PM

“I’ll have the same please.” She said with a smile before looking at Ben. She wasn’t sure to answer this without upsetting him or ruining the night. “Sure.” She answered shortly. “It’s not like it really matters if I am or not. It’s your life, you can do what you want..” she said quietly at the end.

Vivian-Last Monday at 8:00 PM

Vivian nodded and went up to the bar. She ordered Ben and Sophia’s drinks, plus a vodka soda for herself, and two extra shots of vodka. After she had paid, when the bartender wasn’t looking, she downed both shots and then turned and started to make her way back to the table with the drinks. She set them down and sat next to Ben, hoping the shots would loosen her up. Her breath already smelled like alcohol. She leaned over and gave Ben a quick kiss on the lips, just for no reason.(I’m going to bed sorry guys I’ll reply tomorrow)July 24, 2018

Ben nodded his head slowly, "I know that, I just wanted to make sure things weren't weird or something." He replied. When Vivian returned, Ben was surprised by her kiss but less so when he tasted the alcohol on her lips. "Thank you for the beer." He said with a small smile.

Sophia-Yesterday at 10:00 AM

Sophia watched the kiss happen before taking her beer, opening it and taking a swig. “Thanks.” She said after her drink. Out of nervous and small anxiety, she started scratching off the beer label with her thumb. A habit she always had whenever she had a drink with a label on it.

Vivian-Yesterday at 10:08 AM

“You’re welcome,” She said, feeling better already. “So, who’s your next fight against?” She asked Ben with a smile, hoping to open up the conversation and fade away the awkwardness.

"This guy named Tyson Matthews. I'll probably win that one, we've fought before and he's not that great." He shrugged.

Sophia-Yesterday at 10:14 AM

"When is it?" She asked, taking another swig from the bottle.

“Me and Sophia should gather up a group of girls and be your cheer committee!” Vivian giggled, “You’d never lose another fight that way, with a bunch of female power in your corner.”

Benjamin-Yesterday at 10:17 AM

"It's next Sunday, so I have some time to get my shit together before then." He chuckled "Hell yeah. It would make me look like so much more of a badass too." He joked.

Sophia-Yesterday at 10:21 AM

Sophia raised a brow at the idea. She never had a group of friends that were girls, let alone have a group. "Uh yeah."

Ben gave Sophia is a small smile. "If you can take time away from your busy job to be a cheerleader." He joked lightly.

Sophia scrunched up her nose at the words, "I don't like cheerleaders." She chuckled.

Vivian took a sip of her drink. “That’s no fun,” She said, rolling her eyes. “They’re just trying to add some pep into life. Plus,” she turned her attention to Ben, “You will look like a badass. Especially with me on your team. Because I’m hot.”

Ben smirked at Vivian. "You are." He agreed as he took another drink. He was grateful that his friends walked in then. Three men that Ben was usually palling around with named James, Connor, and Ryan. He stood and talked with them for a moment before introducing Vivian, because Sophia already knew them.

Sophia just looked at the two before downing the rest of her drink. When the others came, she said hi and got up. “I’m gonna get another drink.” She commented and walked over to the bar.

Vivian said hello to Ben's friends with a smile and then looked at Sophia walking away with a frown. "She doesn't like me," She whispered to Ben, and then took a sip of her drink.

Ben watched Sophia and turned to his friend, who gave him a surprised look and said "I didn't know you two were hanging out." Ben shrugged, deciding not to get into it at the moment. He sat back down next to Vivian and scoffed, "she likes you! I think things might just be a little awkward. I don't really know how to fix that other than alcohol." He joked as he took another drink. "In fact, let me buy shots for everyone!" He walked up to the bar next to Sophia. "I'm going to buy some shots. I think we could all loosen up a little."

Sophia-Yesterday at 2:54 PM

Sophia ordered another beer and waited. She looked over at Ben when he approached and stood next to her. "Oh no thanks, i've got to get up early tomorrow and a hangover would not do well for me at work." She said with a chuckle. The bartender gave her the bottle and she took a swig from it.

Vivian-Yesterday at 3:09 PM

“Can you grab me another vodka soda?” She asked Ben, just before he got up to leave. Vivian waited at the table, starting a conversation with one of Ben’s friends. She couldn’t remember the name of which one she was talking to, but she was pretty buzzed so she didn’t mind at all. She was telling the guy about her place of work, saying that the guys should come in for a beer sometime! She wanted to get to know Ben’s friends. She finished her drink.

Ben nodded his head and ordered the shots and Vivian's drink. The bartender brought it out for them on a tray and set it on the table. He grabbed a glass as he sat down and knocked it back.

Sophia walked over to the table and sat down, sipping from her drink every now and then. She was starting to feel more awkward and uncomfortable since she knew that his friends knew about her and Ben. Of course she was feeling out of place but she couldn't tell Ben that. She just had to pull through until the night was over.(edited)

Vivian cheered when the shots arrived at the table. She took a shot and felt even better. “Does anyone wanna play pool?” She asked, gesturing towards the table in the corner. Some of Ben’s friends said yes, so she made her way over there to start a game, not bothering to see who else came. She knew that the best way to get through the night was to just do her own thing and not worry about Ben, because that would just make it more awkward for Sophia. She just wanted to have fun, even if she sucked at pool.

Ben was trying not to be bothered by Vivian hanging out with his friends so much. He knew he had no right to get jealous. He stayed at the table with Sophia, his focus on getting drunk. "Was it a bad idea to hang out with you two together? " he asked Sophia.

Sophia watched as they played pool, sipping from her bottle before focusing her attention on Ben, causing a brow to raise. "Hey now, tonight is your night, not about me and Vivian...." she started but knowing this would be in the air until it was cleared. She sighed, sitting up right, "Honestly? I thought i was ready for this, i thought i would be okay with it all but i'm not.. I know that I ended things but...nevermind." She murmured sipping her bottle again.(edited)

Vivian was losing. She took a sip of her drink, hoping it would help her win, but the alcohol was doing the opposite. She noticed Ben looking pissed off, so she looked over at him to try and make eye contact. When she did, she smiled at him and gave him a wink, as if to say, 'don't worry, we'll get to hang out later tonight'.

He caught Vivian's eye and gave her a small smile in return. He stared at Sophia as she spoke, honestly a little surprised. "I don't know what to say to that. I care about you, but you made it clear that we were over and I'm trying to move on. Vivian is really fucking cool and I'm not gonna mess things up right now."

Sophia started scratching off the label on the bottle again, listening to him. “I know...maybe it’s best I don’t hang around you two for some time...I don’t know..”

Vivian let out a loud cheer as she sunk a ball. "Suck on that, motherfuckers!" She cheered, though this was only the first ball that she had managed to get in the hole. The alcohol was definitely making her feel good. Maybe tonight wasn't turning out to be so bad. Ben's friends were cool, she wasn't anxious anymore, she was pretty drunk, now all she needed to do was get high and have sex with Ben and it would be perfect.

Ben sighed before taking another sip of his beer. "I mean, I get it.. I was kind of hoping we'd be friends or whatever but you need more time first then I understand." He shrugged.

Sophia-Yesterday at 6:58 PM

“I meant hang out with you and her together. Seeing you two is hard for me.” She said shaking her head. “I have a lot to say but I don’t want to make it harder or get you thinking about anything because you’re happy and I don’t ruin that for you..”

Vivian-Yesterday at 7:00 PM

Vivian thought she had the perfect set up, but the ball rolled right to the hole and then bounced off of the side instead. She groaned. She finished her drink and went up to the bar to get another one, keeping a close eye on Ben and Sophia. She had a feeling they were talking about her, and she didn’t want to get involved in any drama to ruin her buzz, so after she got her drink she went back to the pool table.

"No, it's definitely a conversation for another time. Maybe we should call it a night then." He suggested, finishing off his drink.

Sophia-Yesterday at 7:11 PM

Sophia nodded and slipped her bag onto her shoulder. “I’ll see you around then.” She said, giving him one last look before heading out the bar.

Vivian-Yesterday at 7:14 PM

Another game of pool ended, and Vivian looked over at Ben and Sophia to see that Sophia was getting up to leave. She ran over and yelled, “Bye Sophia!” hoping that she would hear. She was just trying to be friendly. She looked at Ben and slid onto the seat beside him. “Hi, stranger,” She smiled.

"Goodbye, Sophia." He said softly, watching as she left. When Vivian joined him once more, he smiled back and wrapped his arm around. "Hey. I'm sorry if that was weird."

Vivian-Yesterday at 7:24 PM

“It’s okay,” She smiled brightly, “I’m sorry I’m drunk.” She laughed and downed the rest of her drink in one gulp. “Should I get another?” She asked, not sure what direction the night was headed in now.

Benjamin-Yesterday at 7:26 PM

"Honestly, I'm kind of ready to go home and smoke a little. This night has fucking sucked."

Vivian-Yesterday at 7:29 PM

“Aw Ben,” She said, pouting a bit. “I hope it didn’t suck because of me. I had a good time!” What she didn’t add was that she only had a good time after she had a few drinks in her. “But if you want to go home that’s cool, I guess I’ll just call an Uber or something,” She said, struggling to find her phone in her purse.

"It wasn't because of you, I promise." He kissed her cheek. "You can come to my place and hang out if you want."

Vivian smiled and nodded. “Okay, sounds great,” She said as she stood up, but then almost fell over. “Whoops,” maybe she was a little drunker than she thought.
