"Hmm-- I don't know how to put it into words," Sebastián mused, sighing softly as he studied Emilia for a moment. It was, if anything, a relief to share with another trainee who was his age. Everyone else in the Avengers' Initiative was too old to relate to sometimes.

"Magic is... More like understanding the world is a software, so you both learn the language it's programmed with, and the commands to make the software perform different, off script tasks. But I'm rambling now, aren't I?"

​“Hey Dylan,” Sebastián greeted from the door. “Guess who’s in need of some assistance again.”

It wasn’t the nicest thing to accept, especially for a Primus of the Order of Hermes. People looked up to him to always have the right answer, except it wasn’t always the case. Despite the power, the knowledge and the courage Sebastián had been graced with, he was still human and days like these he was made painfully aware of it. There were things not even his magic could accomplish.

“Are there any other clients around? I’m afraid we’re gonna need to have... a sensitive conversation, you and I.”

"-And I'll have one of the house waffles. Extra syrup, if you will. With coffee, black. Thank you so much," Sebastián finished, placing his order and nodding gently at the waitress in appreciation of her service.

How he ended up in that diner, one hour away from town, was kind of a funny story. But not as funny as the idea that his recent case would have him recruit the help of none other but the prosecuted's therapist.

He didn't know exactly what had taken over Amanda Seymour to commit the crimes he was now investigating, or where he had left after dropping a few bodies back in town, but he figured he and Dorian were there to figure that out.

"So you really don't believe she did it?" he asked, his sharp eyes falling back on Dorian, sitting across from him, who apparently had different concerns about his patient. "Not that I'm accusing her, of course. That's why I'm investigating. It's just... You seemed rather fond of her like to come with me all the way up here."

"No, sir. As I stated earlier with my introduction, I come unarmed and I hold no ill intent," he explained warmly, looking up at who he imagined was the king of the spiders.

It's not that Seb wasn't intimidated, because he was. He was well aware that this 'diplomatic mission' was an attempt to get him off a particular nasty case that threatened to unmask corruption within the Order. Perhaps that's why he was all the more determined to see it through and achieve some sense of understanding with the spiders.

He looked around the cave. Despite not seeing anyone besides the King, he could tell he was surrounded. Nothing but the sillohuettes of the webs could be made out in the dark. He wasn't even sure he'd find the way out if he decided to run. So he steadied his voice and focused on the conversation.

"I know there have been instances of spiders venturing into the city and mages venturing into the forest. I have been sent to talk and come to an understanding. It is my hope that we can coexist peacefully, sir."

"I have to admit, there were a couple of moments when I thought we wouldn't make it out," he started, finally letting the weight of his bag fall on the couch of Toby's apartment.

The relief on his face was evident, since this was the first time in weeks where he could actually rest at a place that he considered to be safe. Trips into vampire infested places were not good for the heart of an anxious young man like him... But the drive and pride of victory was something that definitely fueled the little overachiever.

"You haven't said much since we landed, love- Did the flight affect you too much?"

Sebastián had never been a big fan of the desert. Had it not been for his magic, he had no idea how he would handle the heat... But the nights were other story: dark and cold. Just like any Orlesian court, he'd say, but it was hardly his place to have an opinion when there was work to do.

The Venatori in the Hissing Wastes were out of control, and their presence brought with it a number of demons running wild around the Inquisition settlements that hoped to keep western Orlais under control long enough for the Inquisitor to deal with Corypheus... So a Warden and an Apostate were sent to deal with the problem

That's what ultimately leads us to Sebastián coming back to camp in the dead of night, to bring his report to Paerin. But he made sure to find a seat around the campfire first, if only to warm himself up a little.

"I found them," he nodded solemnly. "Or, more like, I found the trace of magic that leads to the site of the summonings. If you feel rested enough, we could go now. It'd probably be easier to cross the dunes without the scorching sun on our heads..."

"You're.... different. Special."

It was a rather odd statement, especially considering they weren't all that close to begin with. But the young mage was perceptive enough to tell there was great power hidden within the other, even when he was absolutely unaware of how deep this realization actually went.

"I'm intrigued. May I buy you a coffee?"

"Detective Quinn," Sebastián called, already offering a beer to the man he had been running into so much as of late. It seemed they were investigating the same case, but from two different perspectives... And truth is, while the young law student didn't mind some competition, it was also becoming kind of exhausting.

"May I be bold enough to suggest something crazy?" he asked, having a seat next to Henry on the bar. "... You're investigating the murder of Jamie Baker; I'm trying to prove that my client didn't kill Jamie Baker. We both need the same answers, so... Why don't we work on this together? I know I'm young, but you'll find I'm very resourceful."
