Surya had a thought and wanted to share it with the mentor from Six who seemed interested in helping Marino. She’d been running around most of the day, only pausing long enough to witness the earthquake before she was off again to talk with sponsors and other mentors. Without patience for the elevator, she took to the stairwell to descend the two floors down to Six’s quarters. Spotting Stone but even too busy to flirt, Surya only smiled at him as she passed. “Good afternoon, you look like you had a good day in the training center.” So maybe not too, too busy.
Surya was about to push open the door that led to the next flight, leading down to Six, when she found it wouldn’t budge. A moment later, there was the slightly muffled but still distinct announcement about the lockdown. It sent a jolt through Surya to be trapped in one place when there were so many other people and places she had to see that day. But she preferred not to let unexpected obstacles damper her high spirits, and she turned to Stone with a grin. “Well. It looks as though we’re stuck together now.”
