So many books....
Another day at the Library... -//Open
Merlin walked into the library again, ready to start another day of work. The library was the best choice he could have thought of for a job, it suited him perfectly so he was quite happy.
He sat down at the old desk that was piled high with papers and old tomes. Unfortunately the library was somewhat in shambles, so he was still nowhere near being done organizing it. He didn't see the other employees much, other than some of the cleaning staff. So organizing this place seemed to have fallen to him, and the owner of the library. The one who had brought it back to life. But in all honesty, outside of having hired the young warlock he hadn't seen the owner in quite some time.
Sighing into a stack of papers, he rubbed his eyes.
"Another day, another dust filled tome."
Here but not forgotten //CA EVENT - Open
Merlin stretched his arms above his head, pulling the blanket up. He let out a deep sigh and rubbed his face. Home. He thought. I'm finally home.
He tossed the blanket off of him and swung his legs over the side of the bed, looking up to the inside of the slum that he called home in District Beta. A look of confusion crossed his face. Was this home? Well, it must be. I slept in my own bed last night. He dismissed the passing thought and stood up, stretching. Maybe he should change his attire today? He saw some black clothing in the closet that was provided to him. And it seemed a more fitting colour to this dark city.
The young warlock began to look around himself, trying to figure out why he felt... Out of place. He remembered walking through a door to go home, and then he woke up here. I must have been walking through the door to this place... But why does it feel so odd?
He finished getting dressed, grabbed his staff, and walked out of his door. The tunnels of the slums were just as dimly lit as usual, nothing new there.
I think I'll be heading to work then, the library won't organize itself!
"I wonder if people will eventually start to visit the library more often..?"
Merlin was organizing the shelves of the new library. Never had seen such a disorganized place! It will take him weeks to get this sorted out!
" A quiet night surrounded in books with the warm glow of the lamps to keep me warm during the cold season.. this is definitely more than I could ever ask for. " What a nerd.
Any books on love? [Closed @themagehero]
The library had just opened, but there was no rush. In fact, there wasn't even a single person to be seen. As if the place was a graveyard, but even graveyards had visitors. This place would have been deathly quiet were it not for the constant buzzing of the air conditioning, trying to filter out the dead air that had plagued the building previously, attempting to replace with fresh spring air from the outside. A fly took this opportunity to sneak in and float around, landing on the newly placed bookcases, some of which were filled to the top with donated books of various topics. The places needed proper organizing, but as the schedule posted on the wall showed, it would get that in good time.
The fly took a path around the wooden constructs, past the papers lying in a chaotic manner on a nearby table, and aimed for the donut left alone on a plate. Just as it was about to land, it met resistance. A white samurai had plucked it out of the air, and was holding it with surprisingly gentleness. It struggled and buzzed, but to no avail. It was taken to a nearby window and thrown outside to live its own life. Hakumen saw the pink outside and made a mental grimace. Valentine's Day, huh. It sounded familiar, but he couldn't recall anything about it. His only guaranteed memory of the day was that it was supposedly his birthday. Perhaps the library had some more information on this. He headed towards the proper section, a spring in his step.
"I do not think that is the intended use of a staff."
The comment was aimed at one of his coworkers who was currently in the process of reaching for a book placed really high in the exact same section the cyborg was headed to. The man, presumably a mage, turned his head and lowered his arm upon hearing this. Hakumen's offer of help consisted of him pulling a nearby ladder on wheels and stopping its movement right in front of the bookcase. Somehow, he knew by instinct what was supposed to be used to reach the upper ends of a bookshelf.
"This should prove to be more effective. Hm. You wouldn't be in the middle of searching for information on the upcoming holiday, would you? If so, that would be a great coincidence. I wish to refresh my memory of what is supposed to be done on that day."
"I am Hakumen of the Six Heroes. And you would be?"
Notes from Robin! The library's purpose and the donator's book.
Citizens of Hive City! Yo wussup. Anyways, I've left you all in the dark for some time regarding the library and what its purpose is. Well lemme just say, a big thank you to all that have applied! You will all be paid for your work naturally, that's the first thing. Having the library around is here to give those without a job just a decent source of income for some work.
That being said, the second purpose is naturally for roleplay of course. If you've seen the schedule, you can see I did put some people up for work in the library. It's automatically assumed your character is working that day, but on the day your character does have work, well.. it's to help that writer's block. If you want to make an open or a mini with your fellow employees, feel free to use the library's tag 'ca library' to do so!
Now, what is this donator's book? Well, this is just for fun! The idea behind it is this. If your character donates a book to the library, they're allowed to sign the donator's book. This is where the fun is and maybe will give you a headcanon or two about your character. You will absolutely not be judged based on the book given (OK Robin might, I wont) but as for the character's signature?
Well, we don't know what they look like. But you do. Feel free to write out your character's name in a writing style you think they'd do or however they'd write a signature, take a pic and I'll put it up on my blog with a link to the donator's book itself! Sounds neato, huh? Anyways, that's the update from this librarian. We hope you're having fun in Hive City!
" Alright.. so this is what I have for the scheduling so far. Let me explain a few things first and foremost. I'm not looking for a specific amount of hours worked a week. This is a 'get paid as you work' kind of job. If you have a high amount of hours, you naturally get paid for those hours. I'm not listed because I'll practically be at the library every day in case of emergency and the like.
That being said, this is a rough schedule. At the very least, I'm expecting anywhere from maybe.. 2 - 5 hours of work per shift. Anymore is fine, any less.. I would hope not. Also, as we have some people working two jobs and others dealing with potential emergencies and part time, I'll be looking for people who'd be willing to fill in any empty shifts. Is this alright with everyone so far or would anyone like any days swapped? "
