Be More Effective in 2018

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TO ENSURE THAT 2018 WILL BE YOUR BEST YEAR?
Here’s how you can prepare for a terrific year ahead:
1. REVIEW YOUR LAST YEAR
Why is it important to review your past year? Even if you had some disappointments in some areas, you are likely to have significant success as well. It can be rewarding and be motivating to review those successes before going to the next calendar year. Write them all down.
It’s also important to review the goals that you did not reach. While you do not want to spend time getting yourself down, it can be empowering to be honest about why you did not reach those goals. It’s worth to see what went wrong and most importantly how you can improve and move forward. Taking what you have learned in 2017 can help you set and reach goals in 2018.
2. SET YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR
Setting-and-reaching-goals is one of the most discussed, researched and talked about areas for personal improvement. Odds are you already know the importance of identifying and putting your goals in writing. So now is the time to do it for the year ahead. It’s absolutely fine if some of the goals you missed in the current year make it your list of goals for 2018. After all, challenging goals, take time. You also want to include new goals based on your experiences from the current year or based on changes in your professional and personal life.
3. DEPLOY THE 10 GOAL METHOD
This is what I consider to be my favourite part of goal setting. It has made more people rich than any other method I have heard of in life. It starts with taking a sheet of paper and writing “2018 GOALS” along with the current date across the top. Write down 10 goals that you want to achieve in the next 12 months as if you don’t have any limitations. Here are some guidelines to help:
a) WRITE YOUR GOALS IN THE PRESENT TENSE as if you have already achieved them. There’s a special way of programming your subconscious mind to work 24 hours a day to make the goals come true. Write, “I earn $_____ a year” rather than “I want to earn $_____ per year.” Always write it as though you have already achieved it. Even better write “I earn $_____ in 2018.” Or make it more specific “... by December 31, 2018.” Make it so clear that even a six-year-old can understand what your goals are.
b) WRITE YOUR GOALS IN THE POSITIVE SENSE. Rather than write “I want to quit smoking”, simply state your goal, “I am a non-smoker.” Or “I weigh ___ lbs.”
c) WRITE IN A PERSONAL SENSE. Each of your goals must start with the word “I”. This tells your subconscious mind that the command is coming from the home office or the headquarters. It can register in your mind better and make it easier to act upon your goal.
Setting goals that are in the present tense, positive and personal senses will energise your brain in helping you achieve those goals faster and automatically.
4. PRIORITIZE A SINGLE GOAL
Ask yourself what goal on that list of 10 that if you achieved it within 24 hours would have the greatest positive impact on your life? Give it some thought and put a circle on that goal. This specific goal will then become your major definite purpose. It is also your primary goal and your most important focal point in life.
5. MAKE A PLAN
Transfer this primary goal into a clean sheet of paper, attach a deadline to that goal, phrased like the goal itself, “I achieve(d) this goal by <this date>.” You then want to identify the challenges you face in achieving that goal, the knowledge you and skills you need, and the people who can help you achieve it. Write them down. Write them down. Write them down. Organize the list in the form of a plan. What do you do first? What do you do second? What do you do third? Take some action immediately, even if the action seems insignificant.
The KEY TO SUCCESS IN LIFE is to decide what you want, make the necessary steps, then TAKE THE FIRST STEP. Once you take the first step, you will see the second step. When you take the second step, you’ll see the third step.
You can accomplish extraordinary things with this method. Start chipping away at your goal immediately. Don’t wait until tomorrow, don’t wait an hour, do something NOW.
6. MINDSTORM
Mindstorming is a terrific way to keep your mind going and turning on ways to help you achieve your goals. This is how it works:
a) You take another sheet of paper and write, “How can I reach my goal of earning $_____ by December 31, 2018?” Or whatever your primary goal is. Mindstorming always involves the use of a question.
b) Try to come up with at least 20 answers to the question. Not 19 or 18, but at least 20 answers to help you reach your goal. One answer, often number 19 or number 20 will inspire another answer. Reaching 20 is easier than it seems. Keep going. Write more than 20 if possible.
Using these strategies will put you in a good place to achieve our goals and have the kind of year you desire and deserve.
Before we wrap up, I’d like to leave you with a thought to share with your family and followers: WRITE OUT YOUR GOALS IN 3X5 INDEX CARDS, IN A POSITIVE PRESENT TENSE STATEMENT AND REVIEW THEM TWICE A DAY.
