SHORT.
who did you call so short that he’s hard to hit and can easily run his way through a shooting??
something that he could have said, but didn’t; the only sign of how much her words (that one single adjective, really) irritated him being the narrowing of golden orbs into a glare intense enough to freeze hell over and, then, set it ablaze again. not only that, though, but she actually managed to personally offend his ego again right after, by mentioning a mistake made far too often, by far too many people; two faux-pas in two sentences, that had to be a record worthy of Colonel Mustang himself.
‘ yes, it happens to be me. ‘
fortunately, the tone of the conversation was swift to change --- and, to words of more joking nature, Edward answered with the softening of his expression. it wasn’t a lie, was it? a few of his missions had... ended with SLIGHT TROUBLE coming about, so to speak. so much so that, once she offered the final cheeky remark, now he was actually unable to hold back soft laughter.
‘ i have better use for my money --- rather than to pay for the reconstruction of this place. ‘
Alright, only one thing left on the agenda. A thumb catches the edge of the folder in hand to leaf through it once more, checking for a final time that she hadn’t mixed anything up, and would, in fact, be handing the right documents over to her final charge. Ferrying documents around wasn’t usually her job, but the general had asked so nicely at the end of their meeting, she wasn’t about to decline. It’d been, in part, for her own benefit; the senior officer rightly figured that the young alchemist still wasn’t terribly familiar with many of her coworkers-- this was a chance to put faces to names. Last, but certainly not least, of those names was Major MacKinnon, the Catalyst Alchemist. A title she’d heard only in passing; it seemed their circles didn’t quite line up before now.
A bit of excitement and a pinch of anxiety already stirred Cromwell’s stomach at the prospect of meeting another alchemist. Despite having the same rank and title, she couldn’t shake the feeling of pressure to impress others within the program; the feeling of having something to prove especially to them. Not to mention, some of the really science-y types could be a bit on the severe side, and interacting with stony-sorts wasn’t exactly her forte. Thinking about it for too long was only going to make it worse.
She’d know soon enough, anyways. With a few helpful points in the right direction, she finally came across the officer’s station, and with it, the intended recipient of the hefty stack of reports in hand. If you thought she was excited before, her enthusiasm instantly tripled, and whatever nervousness she had took an instant backseat.
“ You’re Major MacKinnon?! ”
The tone is surprised, but clearly cheerful. Realizing herself, Easy clears her throat, blushing a little as she tries to cool it down a tad,
“ I-I mean, uhm, you’re Major MacKinnon, right? I have some documents here from Lieutenant General Abrams. For you. I mean, of course, for you, obviously, but-- ” she couldn’t help it, she was too elated to keep it under wraps, “ Wow, I’m sorry, I’m just... really honored to meet you, I guess-- I had no idea you were.... wow. I-It’s just really special to see another lady alchemist; you’re the first I’ve met!! Wow--
Okay, okay seriously, sorry, here’s, uhm, the reports. For you.”

aminah had always held her mother in high regard, as a child and even now as an adult ( even now that she was gone ). she was a strong woman who lived through the death of her husband, who raised three children on her own when many thought she would not be able to. she’d had the strength to survive the heartbreak of losing both her sons and then to send her youngest and only daughter away in hopes that she would find safety even though it meant they might never see one another again.
“amma was- amazing is the only word i ever had to describe her. she was beautiful and kind and did everything she could to raise me and my brothers on her own, despite everyone in our village telling her that she couldn’t or that she should just go back to her parent’s village and move back in with them until she found another husband. so... yeah, to me it is still true.”
