CABBAGE IN MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS - ONLINE
GLAMOUR AT THEE RITZ: @ O2 RITZ, MCR - CABBAGE AND FRIENDS
Tonight I was shooting as the house photographer, it was an interesting night with a variety of the cream of Manchester’s rising bands, hosted by the band Cabbage. I was delighted to finally catch the band everyone is talking about The Blinders, what a great band, also Witch Fever another hotly tipped band, Alongside Avalanche Party, Lady Bird and Pins. A good night was had by all and it is a testament to the talent that is in Manchester, it was packed to the rafters.

SOUND CITY, LIVERPOOL 2016
May 2016 - It’s time for my annual trip to Liverpool’s Sound City.
Here are just a few of my favourite moments from the festival. From the top: The life drawing artists, (The Unusual Art Sourcing Company) where members of the festival were encouraged to draw. Suzie Stapleton definitely one to watch, the notorious Pete Doherty texting as he walked on stage, Roisin Murphy looking very ‘normal’ (definitely in no fancy stage costumes) in conversation with Dave Haslam, Sky Valley Mistress with the wild flowing hair and rock moves, the awesome tribute to David Bowie with a projection lit up at night as we made our way home, Pink Kink, the best colourful exciting band of the weekend, based in Liverpool, The Anchoress who is on her way to stardom, looking and sounding splendid, Brazilica dancing with the crowd mid afternoon, Ellie Exxe giving it her all on the Cavern Stage, Manchester punks Cabbage, captured shredding the Tim Peaks Diner, Inheaven, love the way he had such a cool detached aura, with his long hair flowing. Sleaford Mods bewildering the crowd of Catfish & Bottlemen fans.
From a photographer point of view my gripes from the weekend would have to be the video guys moving back and forth on the main stages, which also gave less access to getting closer to the artists.
Ideally it would be great if there was a press area, so you could edit on the go, somewhere to have a bit of a break, network with other press/photographers and the ability do some publicity shots with artists backstage.
Overall I enjoyed shooting the artists, catching up with other photographers and hearing some great music, plus seeing artists I maybe wouldn’t have done otherwise.
