Col Rodella it’s aerial tramway/cabin lift for 125 persons. It was built in 2005 and can carrying 1100 people per hour. It’s huge and massive construction but relatively modern.
But imagine doing/ achieving that in 1960! There is a museum dedicated to Maria Piaz Pavarin, who devoted her life to tourism and wanted to built a cable car in her region to make it more attractive for tourists. She was 86 years old when with her son completed the cable. The workers of course didn’t have modern equipment, so mostly they used hand tools and climbed a lot) So the cable car Sass Pordoi has operated since 1963. Maria died in 1971 at the age of 94 enjoying the results of her efforts.
Having dedicated her life to mountains and giving people access to them, as well as taking care of 7 children alone, her last words were “L’é dut nia”… everything is nothing…
