Monday, May 26, 2014. Well, here it is almost June and the 2014 TWS. Team 456 is going to sit this year out and hopefully we can come back strong for next year. 1 and 5 have started throwing ideas around for a tandem race canoe, a pedal powered canoe and other far - out ideas typical of the 456 way. We're going to start with a simple canoe build, based somewhat on the Savage River racing tandem but with modified specs to suit us. The goal will be to build a canoe that blends speed with stability and relative comfort. We're thinking fiberglass for the prototype due to it's lower cost than carbon fiber. If the shape, speed and bouyancy/stability hit the mark, well then we can contemplate the Kevlar or Carbon fiber build.
