Please keep in mind when it comes to my reviews I will always be 100% honest because I hate reading rave reviews that never point out problematic things about books or fanfiction. And this is just my opinion so take it or leave it.

These last couple chapters have been starting to bug me a little and here's a few reasons why.

1. Hermione keeps WHIMPERING. Like every other page Hermione is "whimpering" about something and its starting to grate on my nerves.

2. Draco is starting to become a bit manipulative. I was kind of okay with him being cold and distant to force Hermione to admit her feelings but then he takes it a step further and basically manipulated her into bed with him. Like bro you guys have only kissed once so far. And already he's like "you know you want this dick". Don't attack me I know that's not what he actually said but his actions remind me of a horny teenage fuckboy. And it's not the character development I was hoping from him. Not to.me tion he goes from revenge fucking some random slag to kissing Hermione multiple times while she is DRUNK and upset. Like did the author just completely forget she's writing about a rape victim? Like yes Draco let's take advantage of a drunk upset rape victim because you like her. He even thinks to himself while kissing a drunk Hermione " this is okay because I know she wont remember this in the morning". That's very cringy and gross to me.

3. I absolutely hate the fact that when they start getting it on Draco literally tells her if she takes off his pants she has to promise to continue having sex with him. Then when she starts to break down and cry because you know SHE'S LITERALLY A RAPE VICTIM, Draco tells her keep your eyes open and if you get scared you'll know its me. Like I'm sorry but if someone who was raped starts breaking down and crying while your having sex and tells you they cant stop thinking about being raped, how is that a turn on???? Like immediately I'm gonna look at this person I care about and be like I know you said you're fine but we're gonna stop for tonight because CLEARLY YOU ARE NOT FINE. I say this as a victim myself. I had a very bad reaction one time with a partner and they immediately stopped. Like the mood was ruined after that. So to have these 2 continue literally is stupid in my opinion. Like if one person is literally terrified of having sex you stop. Plane and simple. You dont sit there and try to convince them not to be scared. It's just very cringy to me. This is why I hate fics where they get together too quickly. They barely just discussed their feelings and they're already having sex. They literally only kissed once before this. I don't count when draco kissed her while she was drunk. She was literally drunk!! Uggh. I'm giving this fic 5 more chapters to get its shit together before I put it in the DNF pile.

Just finished Chapter 7 and Chapter 8

I have to say I really really hate dramione fics where they instantly like each other after only a few days/weeks or whatever. But CABW is so well written that I'm actually loving it. There is a really good balance between darkness, fluff and humor. The letter to Pansy was fucking hilarious, especially the "you sound like a dying chihuahua when you moan". Also bronson hitting Draco back for hitting him then Hermione just like "oh, well want some pancakes since Draco deserved the hit" Also quite hilarious. Also because I'm a sucker for the darkness I loved the scene where hermione is explaining what Pansy did to her. Reason I loved this is because It was written so well and emotionally charged outbursts are some of my favorite dialogues in fics. And it really gives Draco a huge reality check. Like yes Draco, did you forget you are housing a death eater torture/rape victim? Bringing home any death eater was a huge mistake that he really didn't understand until Hermione's outburst. Boys can be so stupid.

So just got done with the chapter where Draco kills the old woman who helped Hermione and I really loved a lot of this chapter. Draco's turmoil over killing her felt very realistic and shows that he's also a victim of the war. I'm also loving Bronson!! He's so precious ❤ What I hated was how Draco reacted when Hermione told him to stop kissing her! He was such a douchebag and should have understood why she asked him to stop after seeing his mark. This isnt a criticism on the Author's part, it felt very in character for this fic's Draco. I am more into slow burn fics though so this feels a bit fast for them to already be making out but it's a move in this fic that I'm actually okay with.

Currently on page 35 and I'm loving it so far. 1 tiny thing bothering me already is that Hermione is blaming Draco for not helping her when she literally seen his Aunt KILL HIS MOTHER IN FRONT OF HIM! Like yes she has been raped and tortured for the past 4 years but she should have had plenty of time to realize, like hey Draco was a teenager who saw his mom murdered in front of him and was too in shock to do literally anything to help anyone. Just my own thoughts so far.
