I haven’t even seen CACW yet, but having read and heard how much the actual nature of the registration aspect of the conflict was changed, I… yeah, no, I take back my earlier words, Tony Stark’s position is absolutely the right one in the movie version of the conflict.

117 countries going “we demand that this specific group ofsuperheroes gets full oversight as a paramilitary force” is vastly different from the US government saying, during a very right-wing-leaning administration and in a universe where superpowered mutants exist and are an oppressed minority, that everyone with superpowers (even if they’re not actually operating as a vigilante) has to submit to being registered in a government database and can/will be deployed as a law enforcement agent or else be imprisoned without a trial in another dimension. MCU Tony and 616 Tony’s positions are barely even comparable. Requiring a group of like, what, ~20 people at this point to have to answer to the world at large is common sense.
