plotted starter for @destructiveglitch
another facility. another fucking outbreak. it makes her stomach churn with rage and disgust; is there really no limit to what people will do for greed?
she’s recovered now. more than recovered if she’s being honest. there are times it scares her a little, but she’ll take what she can get. she’ll need it, too, given the fact she’s headed in alone this time, since chris is out on his own mission and she doesn’t want to ask any more of carlos after all he’s done.
and claire... she’d rather die than put her in danger.
the release of the virus was recent, but already the area is overrun. it’s a cold comfort that it’s much smaller than raccoon city; death is death, and it doesn’t matter any less here in this small midwestern town.
she finds the entrance with a fair amount of ease. it’s less hidden and umbrella clearly likes to reuse a lot of the same tricks. there’s surprisingly little resistance as she makes her way inside, and it begins to solidify her theory that not even their base remained untouched.
she’s proven right when she sees how many dead there are in the clinical white halls.
it quickly becomes clear that the “important” staff have fled already and everyone left behind was deemed dispensable. even if they were all umbrella, jill can’t help but feel some sympathy and anger on their behalf.
there’s a chance, she knows, that if she leaves now she could maybe track down those responsible and make them pay. but if she does it’ll mean leaving behind anyone still surviving in this mess, and that... that she can’t do.
so she makes her way, cautiously and methodically, through the facility looking for anyone still hanging on, hoping to find some answers along the way.
it’s starting to seem hopeless when she makes her way into the holding area, big glass cells still unbroken as zombies stumble by. most are empty, but one, one has a figure that is all too clearly still alive.
a few quick, precise shots and she’s rushing up to the glass unhindered, hands trailing the edge looking for a release.
“ hey- hey you okay? i’m gonna get you out of here. “
