I haven’t done a code in a while but boy do I have a fun one for all of you today. This code is a mashup of two codes. Every other letter is switched between two codes. The first one is a Caesar shift. The second is a number substitution. I made them both pretty simple. Can you do it?

You seem to be unnecessarily salty about this whole Journal 3/Cipher Hunt thing. Yeah, Ford was an abuse victim. But it seems to me that you automatically assume bad faith and take any instance of pointing out Ford's flaws as saying he deserved to be abused because of them. That simply isn't the case. When you claim that you know the characters Alex Hirsch created better than he does and that there's something wrong with him, that's a sign you may be going a bit overboard. Please, chill out.

So, uh.... yeah not only have I literally gone on record saying that I don’t claim to know more about Ford than Hirsch does, but also...

Saying that an abuse victim (even a fictional one) is at fault for their own abuse is? Pretty terrible? It’s bad representation. It’s rude, it hurts real abuse survivors, and what’s even more important? In this particular case, it silences male victims of abuse, who are already underrepresented and blamed for their own abuse in our patriarchal society. 

Like, you can have an egotistical abuse survivor, I’m not saying you can’t! But a) if you want an egotistical abuse survivor you have to write him that way, and b) as a general rule you want to include more than one survivor so you don’t unintentionally make a blanket statement about all abuse survivors. (This goes for any attempts to diversify storytelling: the easiest way to avoid stereotyping your characters is to have multiple characters from the same demographic with different personalities that don’t follow the stereotypes set by the first). Cause people will find every excuse in the book to erase and invalidate what a survivor went through.

Second, so far no one’s pointed out his actual flaws to me!

Ford thinks of people in absolutes: that’s his most major flaw. It’s not born of ego! in his own eyes he’s a freak until he proves himself wrong by literally becoming perfect

Ford has a very gray sense of morality as long as he thinks his ultimate goal is pure: that’s a flaw (Irug vwhdov udglrdfwlyh zdvwh). 

Ford is really fucking reckless when it comes to lab safety (no fucking guard rail on that damn portal, random ass red hot sigil just... just fucking out there in the open WHY they give you a packet at the beginning of 9th grade Ford don’t you read). That’s a flaw

Ford can hold a grudge like no one’s business even against his own self and is easily consumed by the past. That’s a flaw!

Ford’s ‘flaws’ that have been pointed out to me thus far have been: “Ford’s egotistical” “Ford doesn’t care about Stanley” “Ford doesn’t care about Mabel” “Ford doesn’t have a shadow/is working with Bill” “Ford doesn’t care about Fiddleford” and “Ford thinks Dipper is a tiny clone of himself he identifies with Dipper but that’s not the same thing and I won’t get into Journal spoilers but my previous statements still hold up and is slowly manipulating him”. Honorable mention: “Ford is sexist/racist/homophobic/transphobic” 

Oh, and fyi I don’t know where you were for the past year but until the show ended the Stanford Pines tag was filled with people calling for his head. Seriously, quite a few famous fans actually wanted Ford to die. And these people were in the main tags, too! We had to form a squad to keep the tag positive. 

And that’s not even mentioning the shitstorm that would ensue if I’d made a post even mentioning Stanley’s flaws back in the day (even now, sometimes I get vibes like that).

So maybe think about that before you say I should chill.
