I really like how Araki uses homo erotic visuals for Joseph and Ceasar. To me it feels like it's pushing the boundaries of what friendship means, and critiquing how reluctant men largely are to show affection even purely platonic, by going in the opposite direction. They playfully fight, have homo erotic scenes that aren't explicit. Kinda pushing the boundaries for what friendship means

I like how just unafraid Araki is to portray not exactly taboo but still frowned upon things. Like his depictions of racism that don't involve slurs, but how the people like Smokey and Sandman get treated

that’s one of the greatest things about araki

he isn’t scared to represent trans, gay, black, native or SA topics

and he represents them in a good way he definitely does them justice, FOR a Japanese manga artist, where they’re known for.. yk be discriminating or disrespectful EVEN when the manga was made in the 1980s

and definitely with Joseph and Caesar that why I ship them, they just never seemed like ‘friends’ they always thought about eachother, and generally cared for the other.

even when Messina caught on a bit and said (and I quote) “you don’t usually make friends, but when you do ITS TRUE LOVE.” Hint hint..

Messina definitely knew something was going on there definitely.

I also love how he’s not scared to get the two to show emotion.

Joseph SOBBED when Caesar died, and Caesar cried when he saw his dad get taken by the pillar men in Rome.

also how Caesar showed that one scene, where he was so happy that Joseph survived Esidisi hold on there’s a gif ILL find it…

This part, it was WAYY more gay in the manga though
