Cafe Ennui
Kyana walks along the city streets of Endlebridge in the bright, spring sunlight. His hands are burrowed into his sweatshirt pocket and the wind breezes by, still carrying a chill. He stops briefly in front of the cafe entrance, takes a deep breath, and walks in. His footsteps falter when the door jingle sounds. His face looks a little flushed and his nose starts to drip as he looks around.
The sun is baking the cafe, so it’s warm inside and very bright. There are a few people waiting to place their order at the counter. Lunch hour is just about at its end. There are a few customers playing games in the console section of the cafe, but it’s still early in the day, so most of them are on their way out, returning to work or school.
Kyana decides to sit at a booth in the corner near a window. He uses a napkin to wipe his nose, then glances at the menu. His eyebrows furrow. He pushes the menu away and looks out the window instead. People outside on the street go about their day.
