a/n ayyy hola mi amor!! espero que le guste amor!! le mando besos 😽
Finally! Finally all your bitching had paid off, and you have to say, what a wonderful payoff it was. The papel picado was hung up with care, and done especially well thanks to your commanding presence of arts and crafts. The music after much practice by the Apollo cabin floated through the air and suddenly this place felt a lot more like home. It had been years since you’d gone back to your motherland, but being able to bring a small piece back, a tiny piece that brought joy back into your life was worth it. Not to mention the music, the food, the atmosphere it reminded you of your mom. You brush off the tears quickly trying to move away from the past and focus on the present, thankfully Annabeth came rushing to your side,
“Y/n!” She cheers, smiling at you and bringing a concha to your face, “did you already have one?” You nod and smile.
“Yeah, I did! Now please come and dance with me?” She nods and lets you pull her to the dance floor. She wasn’t big on dancing and much less in front of everyone at camp, but she felt like she owed it to you. She was one of the few people you would talk to about how much this event meant to you. How you had been fighting to stay in touch with your Latin roots. You fought tooth and nail to bring your culture into camp. So she could sacrifice her pride for three minutes to make you happy. You were her friend after all.
The music turned into a cumbia, which you taught her a whole month before this event was planned. You both spun around, laughter left your lips as you spun each her and continued your moves. Annabeth let a few laughs of her own leave her lips. As the song came to an end, she lets out another laugh before asking,
“So, is this how you wanted this event to go?” You let out a sigh and look out at the sea of people. All the younger demigods who were just absorbing the atmosphere and those who looked like they needed this made your heart melt.
“Yeah. This was worth the hell it took to set it up.” You tell her. You give her a smile, a real smile. She returns it and gives you a quick hug. When she lets go she runs off to enjoy the rest of the event you meticulously planned. As you were enjoying the event you heard an agonising screeching sound, one you knew all too well, Leo. Turning around you see him wheeling a mechanical bull. What. The. Fuck.
“Leo Valdéz!” You shout, “Esto qué es?” You huff. Everything had been planned by you. You had spent a whole month selecting decorations, two months planning the event, and five whole months teaching the Apollo cabin what songs they should learn and what they should play, how often they should change between genres of music the whole works. What didn’t pass through your heavily planned event was a mechanical bull. Why did you need the mechanical bull? You had games planned, Lotería, piñata, El Gallito, canicas! You’d thought of games for everyone so why in the blue hell was Leo bringing an unplanned bull to your event? Your blood was boiling.
“Eh, it’s a bull mi querida!” You blink hard. You go to him and grab him by the stupid neck of his guayabera.
“Why? Did. You. Bring it!” You are about to let go of his shirt utterly annoyed at why he dares mess up your mini festival.
“Escúchame preciosa, yo no quise angustiarla. But my heart gave into all the kids asking me to bring it for a ride.” He smirks down at you and you have half the sense to smack his head but refrain. You click your tongue and sigh.
“Fine.” You don’t say anything more but move to the dance floor once again. The music continued a mix of norteñas and cumbias. You’d danced with half of your cabin before you heard the familiar beat of the fateful dance. Everyone who had an ounce of Latino blood knew what the beat was, and everyone who dared to run to the dance floor was signing up for the brutal task of not being pushed around. You rushed to the center, and one of your sisters was standing next to you. You had spent the past year teaching her this dance, you had drilled it into her so when the time came she could dance with you. The person you didn’t anticipate to be near the dance floor stood right in front of you.
“Leo.” You say he turns and smirks.
“Watch me, mi vida.” He turned around and continued to stomp his right foot with his right arm raised and pointing to his right. However right when the music picked up, he did the kick step and jumped right into the move. You nearly choked as you watched him. But you refused to lose focus. The music had already set the fast pace that you were used to. You kept a smile despite watching Leo show off the fancy move to each chance in directions. You kept line dancing and smiling, your sister had given up about two minutes in. She claimed it was nothing like you practiced. You could care less if you were being honest. The utter rush and pride of beating Leo was keeping you alive and on beat. Leo kept kicking and jumping, moving swiftly between each change in line. It amazed you honestly. And he looked hot.
Leo couldn’t stop smiling. He knew the months and years of practice for this dance wouldn’t disappoint him. The second he learned that you were a love of dance, he dedicated any “spare” time to learning and perfecting every dance you could think of. He even bribed the Apollo cabin to play La Quebradora. Just so he could hold you close, and maybe throw you around just to see your smile and have a chance of holding you tightly against him. The song came to an end and your chest was heaving. You turn to Leo and high five him. He smiled and you returned it for a split second your banter was forgotten. The song changed quickly, you recognised it and went to move away from Leo choosing to sit this one out. Leo wasn’t having that. He grabbed your arm and looked into your eyes.
“You know how to dance this right princesa.” He looks down at you expectantly. You nod and he smirks at you again. Then before you know it you're being moved across the dance floor. Within seconds the first part of the quebradora comes approaching fast, but Leo doesn’t let you get your hopes up quite yet, so you have to settle for swaying your body on his. He continues to lead, which to your surprise was really well. The second chance for you to be thrown around came when you got two seconds to prepare. Leo had tapped your hip twice and whispered, “jump” so you did. He catches you by your waist and immediately swings you to the right, and grabs under your knees to swing you fully over his shoulder and to the left. He brings you back down to a dip and continues dancing. You’re left breathless for a moment and continue to follow his lead. He continues the process of tapping you and telling you to jump each time he’s going to throw you. Knowing the song you knew all the points where you’d be thrown. You clinged to him breathless and incredibly attracted to Leo. You couldn’t lie, you always found him attractive, albeit annoying, but attractive nonetheless. You were nearing the end of the song and Leo couldn’t let the song end with the same way he’d been throwing you no. When it came down to the last few seconds to the song he grabbed you and flipped you all the way around his shoulders and right before putting you down he flipped you over his left hand and when he brought you down he gave you a soft smile.
As you two continued dancing together until the song ended he pulled away enough to give you some space so you can see his eyes.
“That, that was fun.” He smiles at you. You blink and look up at him,
“Yeah it was.” You gently raise your hand and brush hair away from his face. When you tuck the hair away, you smile up at him.
“Thank you Leo.” You try to slip away but he holds onto your waist.
“Y/n, I need to confess.” You blink confused.
“Confess?” You tilt your head as Leo sighs,
“I like you.” You blink, thinking it’s a joke. You try and push away but Leo’s grasp remains strong.
“Not funny Valdéz.” He looks at you,
“It’s not a joke.” You turn back at him not believing him.
“Y/n please believe me!”
“Why? Believe you when you shamelessly flirt and have flings with all these other girls? When you fucking flaunted all those girlfriends you had? ‘Pa que me hago ilusiones?” Annoyance bubbled in your chest as you escaped his grasp and began to walk off. He caught your wrist and spun you around.
“Y/n, se siente feo no tenerte cerquita. Eres mi ángel mi deiabla y mi locoqita. Si, yo tenia mucha novia pero como tú ninguna. Yo con cualquiera puedo acostar pero no despertar, solo con usted, yo bailo con usted.” He dropped to his knees looking up at you.
“Se fue mi sol, mi paso de luna, mi sol, mi ángel, por favor, no me deje.” You cup his face.
“If everything you just said is true, I believe you.” He stands up, and you look at him tears brimming your own eyes. He caresses your face too and looks at you with such warmth it makes you shy. He looks into your eyes asking for a silent permission, you nod and he places a most gentle kiss on your lips. He slowly pulls back and says,
