Been working on a comic book and I keep starting and stopping. Sometimes I feel like my layouts are stagnant so I scrap the page and start again. Every once in a while I will draw an action page if sequential art to loosen my brain. Last month I see Caitlin Fairchild vs She-Hulk to get the juices flowing. Rec: This fic instantly transported me back to the heyday of post-series 2 and 3 fic in the mid-2010′s, ranking right up there with the likes of Kill Switch, The Best of Times, and Against the Rest of the World in terms of the perfect mix of action, angst, mystery, plot, and romance. Featuring wonderful new characters to interact with along the way, and one particularly delightful cameo of an old character in a new role. But the stars of course are Sherlock and John, both in top form as they try to get one step ahead of their adversaries, even as every avenue seems to get cut off as soon as they try to pursue their quarry down it.

The main plot concerns their search for Mary, made more urgent by the fact that she was pregnant when she left England with her due date fast approaching... I couldn’t even begin to anticipate the twists and turns that the investigation took, and marveled as each piece slotted into place; even more so knowing that the story was written over the course of over five years from start to finish, with sometimes up to a year passing in between updates. And yet it reads seamlessly, perfectly plotted and paced, with every clue followed up on and no thread left dangling.
