"Are you pregnant?"

They’d been trying to get pregnant almost since he’d moved into her apartment. They already had Lucas, but after much discussion about whether or not they can financially manage another child, they’d decided that they would try for another child. One that they could raise together from the start, not just her on her own. They were in this together this time, from the very beginning. She had a good feeling about this one though, she thought that this time it had really happened for them, and that Lucas might have a little brother or sister. "Just thirty more seconds before we can look." She said with a nervous smile, waiting for the three minutes that they were able to check the pregnancy test that was on the table in front of them. She gave Sam’s hand a squeeze before reaching over and turning over the pregnancy test.It was negative. "No… I’m not pregnant."

Holding the phone to her ear, Quinn’s heart stopped for a moment. Sam had been back in her life for way over a year, and had spent most of that time building a relationship with his son. That was what was the most important, because Lucas was the one thing that she could count on in her life, and he needed a father as much as he needed a mother. Now, over a year since he’d just walked back into their lives, while she was on a weekend away with her new boyfriend nonetheless (the first boyfriend that she’d had since having Lucas 6 years ago), and Sam was telling her the words that she’d hoped to hear for years. The timing wasn’t right, none of the timings had been right in her life, but that was the way it worked. It didn’t matter though, because she knew that she still loved him too.

“Me? Me get a grip?” Quinn was seething, she could never have thought that she could be so angry in all of her life. She’d just seen Sam, her fiance, meeting his ex-girlfriend Tina and they looked more than a little friendly. “He’s sleeping with her, isn’t he? You know Tina better than me, Rach, is she after Sam? Am I gonna have to slap her?” She was outraged, utterly convinced that something was going on behind her back. “It’s because I’ve been working so much isn’t it? I’ve driven him into the arms of his ex!”
