This and this and this and this and this and many other examples that you can just look through. (Sorry for the many links but several people have pointed this out.) Its literally orientaltism. Its literally "Thing Japan ✨🌟." Its appropriating a culture with a term that never even STARTED in the self ship community, and a term we didnt even need.
like think. Really think to yourself as to why "yume" is more "cute" or "appealing" or "cuter." Really think why a Japanese term is "better." Think as to why, after years of harassment and being called cringe, self shipping became a trend, an aesthetic, popular even, when they found a Japanese term for it. Think as to why white people using a Japanese word is seen as "aesthetic." Its downright racist, especially when people think that yume is a "better" term and will only engage with people who use that term. They wont interact with anyone who calls it "self shipping" because thats the "cringe" and bad and lesser term.
Please stop using yume when yume was never needed, was appropriated, and is seen as "cuter" solely because its a Japanese word.
