another friday another ramble/rant about shit i see on tik tok in the selfship community

i feel like people are starting to really try to dictate what others do on their own blogs/pages/with their own selfships to "protect" doubles feelings. i keep seeing takes that are like "you shouldn't do xyz because your doubles may see it and get upset".

like ive seen a couple of tik toks talking about how now apparently its problematic to call someone else's selfships canon because a double may see it and get upset about it

i also saw a lot of discussion about saying things like "i am [f/o]'s only love/one and only/canon bf/gf/etc" is also looked down upon

and like... i get it. seeing someone who is a double who is using that sort of language, or seeing people call a double's selfship canon, can be hurtful and make you feel inferior. i gettttt it i understand. im not completely nonsharing but i also feel that way when i see other damon ships (whether canon or selfship related). so i am empathetic to the feeling.

HOWEVER... i feel like it's on the double to block you, not on you to censor yourself or stop saying things for the double's sake :( i dont think its fair to expect someone to stop saying certain things, or not call themselves canon, or not call themselves so-and-so's only partner, etc, because a double may see it and get upset.

it's on you to curate your space. it'd be different if people were coming into your space and being rude to you, but if they're on their own blog, minding their business, talking about their selfships with their moots/friends, its on you to block them if what you're seeing is upsetting you. you have to learn to be uncomfortable with what you see sometimes, and this includes possibly running into doubles. it's just how it is sometimes unfortunately.
