It had been playing on Lily’s mind since James had, in not so many words, told her about Remus. She hadn’t slept much that night, instead she’d stayed up most of the night worrying about her friend. Trying not to imagine him in pain, shedding a tear at the thought. He was such a kind and caring person, he didn’t deserve to have such a thing happen to him every month. Though the revelation explained a lot. His nickname, his disappearances once a month, she wondered why she had never connected the dots before. Mostly she just wanted him to know that she was there for him, no matter what. She wouldn’t bring it up to him directly, of course not, but she hoped that he would open up to her on his own. And soon. She wasn’t sure how long she would be able to keep this to herself.
She woke earlier than normal the next morning, having only gotten a couple hours sleep. Instead of going back to sleep, she wasn’t tired anyway, she decided to get up. After her usual morning routine she headed down to a rather empty breakfast. Only a couple of students littered the hall, with only two of them occupying the Gryffindor table. She took her usual seat somewhere in the middle of the table and grabbed some toast. Hopefully her friends would join her soon.
