born in daegu , south korea , to two loving parents ( jisoo rhee &. jihoon rhee ) . he was the youngest of three brothers &. truly , if one hadn’t seen he was an artist in the making , they probably would be blind . his mother was a well-known primadonna in the korean national ballet company and his father was a screenplayer that said company hired often to translate pieces . since very early , he and his brothers were pushed towards the arts , but in the end , only taemin made through the ballet world ; his elder brother , taewoo is apart of the korean gymnastics team for the olympians and his other brother opened several restaurants around the world , presenting korean food
this meant pressure was a constant , even though wasn’t necessarily on purpose : their mother was loving and supportive , their father was strict but invested in their children and his brothers were very open . however , despite sibling rivalry was always present , taemin was afraid to disappoint his parents . so after classical formation since he was two and appearing in some ballet shows with his mother , taemin started to gain traction ( it was safe to assume he was the korean sweetheart ) . his parents took advantage of this fame and got him into a few commercials and dramas . soon , due to his huge rosy cheeks , the koreans gave him the nickname of “ baby “ ( and this is where he came from )
his musical ability took him to want and start training as an idol ; especially because he also had shown promise in songwriting and production . at the same time he was swarmed at the young age of nine by propositions to become a trainee at several labels , cirque du soleil also took notice of his and his brother’s talents . after his mother explained to them what was this circus and why was it so famous , the two brothers agreed mutually it was more worth it accept the organizations’ proposal than the label’s propositions . their father wasn’t as excited , but with some agreements , the rhee family left for montreal permanently for the best of the two boys
they would spend the whole year training for the shows , while attending school and other professional activities : his brother , the korean national gymnastics team and for taemin , between korean commercials , dramas and now songwriting and producing . soon , he stopped appearing on television all-together after a meltdown he had on an airport at the age of fifteen and his mother forced him to choose ( when i said they were loving and supportive , this would obviously happen ) . so with this ultimatum , taemin obviously chose music and production to focus , starting his very well crafted career in music . production starting as early as 2010 ( he was fourteen ) , he created a name for himself as producer BABY ( WANTED CONNECTIONS: baby having produced your muses track , with or without recognition , helping with the lyrics or just the melody production )
his days in cirque du soleil as a firm contract ended when his brother decided to focus on gymnastics for their country . instead of becoming bitter over it , taemin was actually relieved to finally being able to focus on his other dances . he took part in a ballet show pulled to honor his mother , kept producing , and this time around , at seventeen , started to write his own music . he didn’t start early due to his father’s advice , saying his voice would mature , and it would help him have a firmer fanbase ( for someone who was in film , his father had a collected music knowledge ) . his work was more focused on the korean market , however he extended himself towards the american market before kpop got more popular in there ( of course he took advantage of that later on , but in the meantime , he focused on writing in english when he was living there )
his life from 17 to 22 was always jumping around from south korea to new york , back and forward , due to his dance commitments and music commitments . however , his fame would become more and more prominent due to his music , very in touch with the topics of today , but especially due to his angelic vocals . after some very prominent collabs ( WANTED CONNECTION : collabs , who doesn’t like collabs ) , he was that artist you wouldn’t think was that famous but then you log into itunes and like 6 songs of the top 20 it’s his

it’s hard to explain his personality . he’s very family inclined , which means his friends are his second family ; this would mean he’s a very supportive and turns into a personal cheerleader of his friends . however , he’s not the best socially , despite being very bubbly when you get to know him
taking this into account , he’s possibly very reserved at first , although he’s not afraid to speak his mind and give his two cents about something
very strict about schedules and practising ; hates to work with unprofessional people because we all have some place better to be ( it’s not really about the money , more about ‘ we both don’t wanna be here ‘ )
bought a penthouse instead of a mansion because a) love heights and having a view over half of L.A. and b) hates how empty a mansion can get when he finds himself alone
has a burning passion for wristwatches
always travelling between south korea and america due to his dance and music commitments
loves to work with different types of musician , improving his craft to adapt to what the artist wants
