Wanted to make an 'update post' of what I'm planning next for my Britechester save file, especially in regard to the new Businesses & Hobbies expansion!
My thoughts on the new expansion...
Townie makeovers!
Remaking TS3 and TS2 households?
The next build!
Discover University 2.0 (Businesses and Hobbies)
I've seen a lot of simmers saying that the new expansions feels like it could've been a Get to Work refresh, for me it feels like a Discover University one! 😅
I'm super excited about the opportunities available for university gameplay with the revamped mentoring system, and new lecture/class system! Especially for professor/educator Sims since they can now actually lecture, mentor, and teach classes! Likewise as students, you can now be lectured to, get a mentor, and attend classes!
These systems are what I originally had hoped Discover University would be, and I'm so happy it is being brought to life with the new expansion. Definitely changing a lot of how I've imagined Britechester, starting with the Sims!
Townie Makeovers
So far, I've already shared the plans I have for Cameron Fletcher to return to the Foxbury Institute as a professor, and I've also updated Julia Wright, Becca Clarke, and Jayden Armstrong (building on his relationship with Cameron Fletcher from the Discover University trailer).
I'm not really planning to have any set rules in terms of time-skips and such. Some of the Sims (Cameron and Jayden) have been time-skipped farther into their future, while Becca and Julia are still in their University days.
I'm planning to update the townies to develop/expand on their in-game lore. With Becca and Julia, that was making them remain best friends, instead at rivaling Universities and 'Groups' (a la The Sims 3: University Life) or with Cameron and Jayden, it was making that trailer interaction part of their lore and having them reconnect years after their college days on the other side of the classroom.
Nostalgia Antics...
Something else I considered doing was remaking some of the professor townies from previous Sims games... while I only have played The Sims 4 (and The Sims 3DS), I still have a weird nostalgia for seeing Sims from older titles in the new game and often look to them for inspiration even though I haven't played these other titles in depth.
I made a list of all of The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 professor NPC's, chose what distinguished major they'd fit best at, whether they'd be an educator or department head, began creating clubs for 'Foxbury Computer Science' and 'UBrite Lang. & Literature', and planned to make clubs for all of the distinguished degrees... and then started re-making the townies!
Three sims in and I quickly realized that there would be no way that I'd get through to the other side of this... For now, going to steer clear of converting any townies that aren't already in The Sims 4 to avoid burn-out, and to also leave room for my own new households in the save file!
That being said... since I didn't actually play these games, I'm not sure if there are any 'iconic' Sims from the University packs that you feel I should consider remaking and including in this save file. Feel free to let me know, because I'd love to try to bring some of the magic from the older games into The Sims 4!
Not sure if the two households I've made so far will end up making it to the save file, so I'm planning to upload them to download on the gallery instead sometime soon!
Next Build: UBrite Arts Incubator
Though I am pivoting to focus on the households and townies of Britechester, I'll still be spending time building as it's what I love to do most in The Sims. The next build I'm planning to finish for the save file is the UBrite Arts Incubator that I haven't updated for a good while.
I think this lot could really utilize the new whiteboards and gameplay systems, as well as some of the amazing new build assets that came with Businesses and Hobbies which integrate very well into the Britechester color palette with that new deep green we got!
Definitely going to be completely overhauling the earlier version of it with some new build items we've gained since I started it as well as some new tricks I've learned, but I can't wait to get back into this build and share it with you all!
Until then, expect to see a lot more Sims coming your way!
