⥠Hobbies for the Sons of Ipswich ⥠because I think they need some hobbies beyond warlock shit/being hot, you know?
Music and wood carving. There's always music playing with Caleb around, mostly rock. His grandfather liked to wood carve, said that it taught him patience and attention to detail, and he taught Caleb too. It helps with being a warlock, woods can be used to make talismans and things, but he mostly does it for himself...and for you, carving a little charm and hanging it from a charm bracelet for you.
Writing and mechanics. Pogue loves to write and hopes to one day be published. For now, he's mostly scribbling in notebooks (always with a dark blue pen, it's a tradition) and he always has a notebook and pen with him, just in case an idea hits him. Of course he loves working on his bikes and on cars too, music blasting in the garage and his tools everywhere as he gets to work, it's so relaxing and simple compared to everything else in his life.
Music and running. He's always listening to music, much like Caleb, but he dabbles in it too. Plays guitar and piano and writes his own songs (which no one has ever heard/read before), records them all on cassette tapes because he's old school like that. And running helps him clear his head, especially when he starts to lose his temper and get lost in it. That's actually how you meet, Reid blasting music as he runs, stumbling upon a pretty girl and her broken down car in the middle of nowhere.
Art and reading. Ty is a crazy talented artist, mostly in ink and charcoal sketches. But he also dabbles in painting (acrylic and watercolor) and a little in sculpting too. He has a habit of drawing/painting on everything, doodles covering his homework but no one minds. And he's always got a book with him, mostly historical fiction, sci-fi, horror, classics, and (secretly) romance. Pogue actually likes to read too as they're always sharing books.
Warlocks and Werewolves, Oh My! // The Covenant Reactions.
Reaction: How would Pogue Parry, Reid Garwin, and Caleb Danvers react to falling for Tyler Simms little sister...who also happens to be a werewolf!
A/N: The Covenant is an absolute masterpiece of a film and it should have gotten SEVERAL sequels. Low key based this on Teen Wolf a little bit too. You know that part where the blonde chick gets turned, does her hot girl walk into the cafeteria, takes a bite out of a dudeâs apple, and then just leaves? Thatâs Y/N in this, go do your hot girl walk.
Pairing: Pogue Parry x Werewolf! Reader, Reid Garwin x Werewolf! Reader, and Caleb Danvers x Werewolf! Reader (female reader).
All your family (especially your mother and older brother) had ever wanted for you was something normal.
Tyler didnât have much of a choice in his fate, he was born with magic in his bones and blood and thus would spend the rest of his life knee deep in weird. But you? You had a chance at the mundane and that was exactly what your family wanted for you. Normal. Boring. Safe. So they kept the weird and wonderful far, far away from you while keeping a close eye on Tyler...which meant that, as you grew older, they pulled away. It wasnât that they didnât love you, more like they didnât worry over you. Tyler was the one they worried about, you were the one they thought would be okay.
If only theyâd known that keeping you away was what got you into trouble in the first place.
When Tyler came into his powers, there had been an accident and your parents decided that you needed to be protected, at least for a few years. So they sent you to live with your Aunt Clara in California. After that you saw them in the summers and at Christmas, sometimes on your birthday, and not much more than that. But California did not bring you the normalcy they had so dearly hoped for, just the opposite. Monsters lurked in the woods surrounding the tiny town, cruel beasts that lurked in the shadows and waited to strike. If only theyâd known the truth...if only youâd known better then to walk those spooky old woods alone. There the beast had found you, pouncing in the dark night.
A scream became a howl.
An innocent girl became a monster.
And you were pulled into the weird despite your familyâs best efforts to protect you. Maybe that was why you never told Tyler, or anybody else, the truth. All of their hopes and wishes for your future had been ripped apart by a monster and you couldnât bring yourself to disappoint them.
So you spent your high school years far, far away and learned who (or what) you had become: A werewolf. And you didnât come home until you trusted yourself again, until you knew that you could play the part youâd been assigned so perfectly. But even with the wolf within you tamed, they could also see that you were...different. It wasnât in the way you looked really, it was something else. Something instinctual. It was a the confidence that you carried, the gleam in your eye, the sharpness to your smile.
One look was all it took.
Pogue saw it as you danced. The beach was crowded with half-drunk students, all of them laughing and chattering and dancing. He wasnât paying much attention, having hidden into himself since he and Kate broke up.
Until he heard it.
A laughter cut through the too loud music.
It was sweet and warm and familiar and Pogue found himself searching the crowd for the sound of it...for you. There you were, dancing beneath the neon lanterns that hung overhead, swaying in the sweet wind. Vibrant purple and sweet blue poured over you as you danced with a few girls and said something he could not quite catch. Damn, how long had it been since heâd seen you last? Pogue watched from afar and wondered where Tyler was..should he call his friend? Or perhaps pay you a visit?
A shadow moved behind you.
Pogue watched as you stiffened, turning slowly as a man crept up behind you, sensing him before you saw him. Long, tangled hair and dark eyes, Pogue noted the crooked scars across his face and chest, as though he had been ripped apart and put back together piece by piece. Whoever he was, you didnât like him. Tension slipped over you, body poised to attack, and at once Pogue was moving towards you.
â...donât deny your true nature, darling.â
âIâm not your darling, Damian.â
Turning away, you made to walk away only to be stopped by the man...Damian.
Pogue felt his power burning and was prepared to strike, something nasty in mind for the bastard. But before he needed to jump to your defense, you had whirled around with a vicious cry and slapped the guy. Hard. Stumbling back, Damian touched the marks left on his face (deep, ugly cuts that shocked Pogue) and grinned, blood staining his shirt.
âThatâs my girl!â
And then he was gone, vanishing into the crowd with a grin. At once the tension melted away, shoulders relaxing as you said something softly.
âPogue.â
You looked up at him with bright eyes and he felt his heart ache just looking at you. Something was strange and strangely wonderful and, damn it, even though he didnât know what it was, Pogue didnât are. He hadnât felt something like this in so, so long. Taking your hand in his own, Pogue felt the same softness to you that he always had. He felt himself being pulled into something deep and dark...and he didnât pull away. Not tonight. Beneath the thumping music, he heard his heart racing as a million worries rushed through his mind...but he could save that for later.
âDance with me,â Pogue whispered.
Taking you in his arms, the crowd seemed to fade away...it was just you and him beneath the neon lights, music rising.
You were blue and violent and silver, dancing in the light as you looked into his eyes.
He sensed something within them, within you, and wondered what it might be...but regret and questioned were for tomorrow. That night it was only moonlight and music and nothing else but the beating of his heart.
But you were beautiful and witty, always able to keep up with him and never backing down, and Reid had fallen hard for you. Heâd never managed to recover either. For years, all he had were distractions (flirtations and short-lived relationships, mostly hookups) and brief moments with you. But now you were home and some stupid part of his heart was hoping that maybe, just maybe, this was it.
Maybe this was when fantasy could become reality.
This was all Reid could think about as he sat at the dinner table with your family, Tyler and your parents laughing and babbling...but you were so quiet.
Over the years, through the rare visits, Reid had heard your voice less and less. You played the part well, laughing at the right times and making little quips here and there, but not much more. Tyler hadnât noticed it too much but Reid had. He hated the absence, missing the sound of your voice. So as you slipped away after dinner and escaped out the backdoor, he followed you. The night was cold, wind snarling. Thick clouds painted the sky, streams of moonlight just barely slipping through. Sitting on the porch steps, your eyes were closed as the wind screamed around you. The old wood creaked beneath his step and your eyes opened at once.
âY/N?â
Looking over your shoulder, you grinned as Reid sat by your side.
âWhat happened in California?â
Just come right out with it, huh? Maybe it wasnât subtle but Reid never had been a subtle sort of guy. No, he was was honesty and rough edges and blunt and sometimes a bit of an idiot and he wanted to know about you. Everything and anything. And once more you did not back down, a far away look in your eyes as you answered.
âA lot happened in California, Reid.â you replied with a bitter laugh. âBut itâs...a messy, weird, complicated story and Iâm not sure if Iâm ready to talk about. Even if I was, itâs not just my story to tell.â
He understood that. Though you knew that they were warlocks, you knew little of any else. There was their world and your world and they had remained apart for so long. Perhaps that was why Reidâs fantasies had remained just that...fantasies. Dreams that haunted him in the night and hung over his every thought. But suddenly he was struck with the feeling that your worlds were about to collide in an explosion of magic and moonlight and maybe something more.
Without realizing it, Reid had moved closer to you, sitting shoulder to shoulder. The closeness made his body burn, the fire only growing brighter when you leaned into him and rested your head upon his shoulder. The night seemed to grow colder still, clouds vanishing slowly. Finally free, the moonlight glimmered brilliantly over the treeline.
A howl echoed through the air, hungry and cool.
Wrapping your hand in his, you held Reid tightly and the feeling in his heart was cemented...everything was about to change.
Caleb saw it in your eyes. He knew that you were home again (maybe for good this time, Tyler was so happy and so hoping that you might stay) but Caleb hadnât seen you since youâd arrived. Since Sarah had left for England (accepted into an amazing study program, it would have been stupid not to go...so they said goodbye), he hadnât been going out much. At least, not to any parties or anything. Mostly he went out alone and walked along the outskirts of the town...that was where he found you.
It was dark and cold, a bitterly icy night.
Winter was beginning to weaken, claws dug deep into the world despite the coming of spring. Caleb had been lost in thought, allowing his home to fade away into a tangled wood. Shadows swirled around him, something strange upon the wind. For a moment, he stopped.
From far off, he could hear voices.
The smooth growl of a man, the furious whisper of a woman...Y/N. He knew your voice too well to mistake it for anyone else. His heart throbbed and then he was moving quickly down the darkened path. Caleb followed your voice as it grew louder and louder. There you were, wrapped in an over-sized red hoodie. It had been torn apart and stitched together again, dark thread all over the scarlet jacket. You were glaring up at a man heâd never seen. The stranger was wild looking, tangled hair and scarred skin, his dark eyes flickering towards Caleb as he appeared.
The man glared.
And you turned quickly, his name on your lips as you looked at him. Stunned for a moment, Caleb looked into your eyes and saw nothing but light. It was only for a moment but it was so gold and so pretty...how had he never seen just how beautiful you were? The Throbbing in his heart began again, no longer worry but something so much sweeterâŠ
âCaleb?â you said again.
The man was gone. And he had to steady himself as he approached, wondering what had happened. He was wary and worried and so happy when you smiled at him, hugging Caleb as you had so many times before.
âWhat are you doing out here?â
âWhat?â you quipped. âCanât a girl take walk through the forest in the dead of night?â
âOnly if sheâd like to be eaten by wolves,â Caleb replied.
Your grin was sharp and shining, laughter echoing through the night. Raising the red hood over yourself, you glanced back to the treeline...and though he saw nothing but shadows, Caleb felt certain that you sensed something. There was a sharpness to you know, an edge. Like the curve of a crescent moon, a silver blade, salient and beautiful.
âIâd like to see him try.â
He walked you home that night, traversing the dark wood together.
With a protective arm wrapped around you, Caleb told you about everything youâd missed, noticing that you spoke very little of California...and even when you did mention something, he could not help but feel as though you were holding back. There was something that you wouldnât (or perhaps couldnât) tell him, always just on the tip of your tongue. Looking up at him, Calebâs heart ached as you smiled, now ignoring the dark and lonely woods.
âGoodnight, Mr. Danvers.â
âGoodnight, Miss Simms.
That night, Caleb looked out the window as he lay in bed. Only darkness, tall trees swaying in the breeze and shadows dancing among them. But as sleep overcame him, he could have sworn that he saw deep golden light burning in the nightâŠ
Summary: Caleb, Pogue, and reader are returning home after a winter road trip. From a prompt shared by @dhampiravidi for these underrated boys.Â
Caleb hit the tune button and landed on another radio station.
Pogue and you exchanged eye rolls. âKeep going.â
Caleb sighed but did as directed. âWhat about this one? I kind of like it.â His head bobbed in time with the beat. Even though he was the driver, he most definitely was not in charge of the music.
You grimaced and leaned forward from your position in the back row to change it for him. âAre you serious, dude? Itâs already giving me a headache and itâs only been for ten seconds.â
âHey! Quit messing with the radio and put your seat belt k on,â he griped.
âHeâs got a point,â Pogue admitted as he elbowed you back. âIâm shot gun so I have better reach, anyway.â
It didnât seem like that big of a deal to you, but you put the seat belt back on with a metallic clink as Pogue took over station surfing. Within a few button presses, he found a jam that everyone in the rental car could agree on.
Pogue drummed on his legs, always the slightest bit off-time, while Caleb went back to his go-to move, which was sensible head bobbing.Â
The real event, though, was in the back with your concert, performance of one.
Movement was restricted not only because of the belt wrapped around your torso, but also because you were sitting down. That didnât stop you from throwing your arms overhead, wiggling along and passionately belting out lyrics.Â
You smiled when both boys cheered you on. âTold you that other song was awful; arenât you glad we found this one instead?â
Caleb stared at you through the rearview mirror and rolled his eyes for a change. âI admit that this one is also pretty good. There. Happy now?â
Suddenly, a heaviness in the car weighed down the energy from moments before. You pressed your head against the cool window silently, shoulders hunched. There wasnât much to see thanks to the inky night sky but the blur of stark white snow was still hard to miss.
The boys didnât rush you and carried on conversation between themselves, ribbing each other on who had the best showing at the ski resort youâd left mere hours ago.Â
And sure, it was only mere hours ago, but it felt like a lifetime away to you.
Sitting removed from them, individual words were tuned out and instead the tenor of their voices washed you. Both had low voices but Pogueâs was the tiniest bit deeper, especially when he whispered, and Calebâs was more prone to rising in volume when he got excited.
If it wasnât for the sudden headache forming between your eyes, it wouldâve been prime napping conditions. As it was, you were too stressed to sleep.
Eventually, you worked up the nerve to clear your throat. The two up front immediately cut off their chatter, waiting patiently. For you.
âI donât want to go back,â you admitted quietly.
The car became thick with emotion. Everyone got really quiet, the radio droning on in the background unable to pierce the heaviness.
Whereas Caleb had practice with sensitivity after having cared for his mom, Pogue knew his first reaction was usually to come off angry. Having learned his lesson after that fiasco with Kate in high school, the last thing he wanted to do was be too intense.
So it was clear that Caleb would have to start first.
âIâm sorry, honey. How can we help?â he asked sympathetically.
You picked at your fingernails, biting them even though you knew it was bad for you. âI donât know if thereâs anything you can do. Itâs justâŠâ
â⊠You have a lot waiting for you when we get back,â he guessed.
And you did. Classes were starting up again, which meant projects and tests were starting up. But what if one of the professors made tests the majority of the total grade? You werenât the greatest test-taker and your results could wildly vary. Projects were done in groups so hopefully you were placed in a good one; you couldnât take being the only one to do all the work again.
Possibility the biggest concern was the scenario in which you failed or had to drop a class. There wasnât room for that in your academic plan, not to mention how horrible it would be to tell you parents about it. Not that they would disown you or anything itâs just that your expectations for yourself were that high.
Unlike Caleb, Pogue wasnât compelled to keep his eyes on the road and knew you were on the verge of falling apart.
He reached to grab your hand and squeezed it tightly. âYeah. School can suck,â he offered. You choked out a little laugh. âIâm always down for a cuddle, if you need it though.â
It was your turn to reach for him but the seatbelt didnât allow you to get into the position you wanted.
Dipping your head underneath the section formally across your chest, you leaned as far as you could go and rested against Pogueâs shoulder from behind.Â
The passenger seat cut into your neck awkwardly but it was worth it to have your cheek on his warm shoulder.
Luckily, you tended to run cold because the boys were always warm. It couldâve been a product of the magic but couldnât say for sure. All you knew was that the warmth helped chase away some of the anxieties in that moment.
âLove you,â you mumbled. You glanced over to the driverâs seat. âBoth of you.â
Pogue pet your hair comfortingly, content now that he had reassured you. Even Caleb turned away from the road to give you a brief smile. That is until he noticed you how you were sitting.
âHey, I said âseatbelts on,â remember? Seriously. Buckle up. Weâre on the interstate, you know.â
âFine. You donât have to yell at me.âÂ
Despite your words, you really didnât mind all that much. The both of them only ever had your best interests at heart and the rest of the drive went smoother with knowing that they would back you up no matter what was waiting for you in the city.
_______________
I had every intention of making this fun and fluffy but, of course, it went straight to angst lol. Hope itâs still enjoyable.Â
Imagine being the twin to Tyler Simms who was sent away to live with an aunt when the Sons of Ipswich first came into their Powers. But after many tears and hours of begging your parents to be able to attend your last year of school with your twin, it's time to go home and reunite with everyone you had left behind.
Author's Note: I'm pretty sure the whole fight with Chase happened their Senior year, but for the sake of this Imagine we'll say it happened at the end of their Junior Year. Sarah left because she couldn't quite handle everything that happened or deal with the weight of their secret, so she packed up and left.
This Imagine will take place a month before the start of their Senior Year at the Academy.
Caleb X Reader
Sitting in the rather dim lounge area of what used to be your childhood home, your right knee bounces in a restless manner while you scroll through tumblr on your phone. Your brother should be on his way home from Spencer Academy since your parents had left him a message to briefly return home since he chose to live in the Academy dorms, and you're looking forward to the look of surprise on his face.
You hear the distinct sound of the front door opening, followed by voices. Grinning, you toss aside your phone and push up to your feet.
"So what was the urgent matter that had your parents calling you home?" Someone asks. "They're not even here themselves."
"Shutup, Reid. They probably left a note somewhere."
Two individuals come to a sudden stop in the doorway of the lounge, one dark haired and the other blonde. Both, even though they've aged, are very familiar.
"Reid fuckin' Garwin. Oh how you've grown up."
"Y/N?"
"Hiya, twin," you then grin at Tyler. "Long time no see."
"Baby girl? Oh shit!" Reid laughs, both he and Tyler then rushing into the room. Tyler reaches you first, pulling you into a hug before Reid drags you into his own arms. You laugh as he picks you up, whirling you around. "When did you get here?"
"Yesterday," you tell them once you're settled on your own two feet. "Got settled in first before I let mom and dad call in Ty."
"You're back?" Your twin asks, surprised. "For good?"
"Yep. I couldn't exactly graduate from a school without my twin. Could I?"
"Yes!" Reid laughs. "You know what this calls for. Right?"
Tyler groans. "No. No party."
"Yes party!" You whoop. "Come on, Garwin, please let there be a party?"
"Oh, there's a party." You whoop again and Reid grins at you before looking to your twin. "See... this is why I always liked your sister, man. Even as kids she was the more adventurous one."
"Yeah? Well you're not the one who got weekly emails about her adventures in Salem. If we're partying, then you're babysitting."
Reid laughs. "Babysitting? How bad can Y/N be?" His gaze darts between you and Tyler, and both you and your twin simultaneously smirk. "You know what? Maybe we outta call in Pogue and Caleb. They like to party too."
You snort. "You just want more hands on deck in case you can't handle me. Aw, how cute."
"Jesus fuck. You really are the complete opposite of Baby boy."
"Oh... you have no idea."
For some reason Reid seemed to have the main driving privileges on Tyler's hummer, but you didn't even bother to question it as the two boys appeared to have some sort of system worked out where Tyler would complain about Reid demanding his keys before actually handing them over. You happily rode in the back seat to the beach and were looking forward to the party.
Stars litter the night sky and the beach is lit up with a couple of bonfires and tiki torches. The air is just crisp enough so it's not uncomfortable and the DJ stationed somewhere along the beach is playing the beats that's most popular with the crowd.
"I'm going to go find some drinks? Want one, Y/N?" Reid asks.
"Yes, please!"
Tyler refuses a drink and you smile at his innocence as Reid teases him. Three then turns into two.
"So when are Caleb and Pogue getting here?" You ask.
Tyler shrugs. "Caleb's running a little late and Pogue should be around here... somewhere," he says while glancing around.
You glance around, studying the party-goers to make sure you're not overlooking a grown-up Pogue. But soon enough, a voice coming from your left has you grinning from ear to ear. "Do my eyes deceive me or am I seeing little miss Y/N all grown up?"
Turning towards the voice, your eyes narrow as you study the guy's features. Tyler chuckles from beside you and when you realize just who it is that's spoken, you squeal and jump on him. As he catches you, your legs wrap around the his waist and you grasp his smiling face in your hands. "Pogue!" Your eyes dart all over his handsome face, your hands then grasping at his hair. "Look at your hair! You actually grew it out."
"What can I say, the ladies dig it." Someone clears their throat from your side. Pogue glances at her and sheepishly laughs. "Well... lady, at least."
Looking to the girl Pogue had glanced at, your smile widens. "Girlfriend?"
"Girlfriend," the mocha skinned girl confirms, lips pursed and expression completely annoyed at the fact you're wrapped around her boyfriend.
You punch Pogue's shoulder before dropping your legs and stepping away. "Way to go, Parry. She's a cutie." The girl's expression falters, her shoulders slightly slumping. "Y/N," you then introduce yourself to her. "Tyler's twin and long time friend of Pogue's. I'm totally not trying to encroach on him."
She finally chuckles. "Kate. And I didn't know Tyler had a twin."
"Yeah. I, uh, I moved away when I was thirteen. Now I'm back to finish out school with my brother and his idiot best friends."
"Oh... so you know the Sons?"
Her question is rather innocent, but the way her gaze darts to Pogue and the way she gulps give away her real meaning. "Yes. I know of the Sons. I was born into the Simms bloodline, after all. But the real question here, I think, is how you know?"
Pogue groans and drapes an arm around her shoulders, but before he can answer there's a red solo cup being thrust into your face and Reid smirking behind it. "Pogue and Caleb's girlfriends were kidnapped and cursed. They were brought in on our dirty little secret and then Caleb's girl split because she couldn't handle it."
You sigh and then laugh as you take your drink. "The Covenant of Silence means nothing to you boys, does it?"
Reid grins. "Don't look at me. It was all Boy Wonder and his Right Hand's fault."
"Shut up, Reid," Kate mutters, slapping Reid's bicep with the back of her hand.
You sidle up to Kate as the boys start bickering back and forth, you sharing your drink with her as you watch on in amusement. The both of you then end up perched on a piece of driftwood, side by side, chatting back and forth.
Three cups in and glancing across the fire you see a boy walking towards your group- dark hair cropped short, a small smile making a dimple appear, and a black peacoat hugging his form. Whistling lowly, you lean further into Kate. "So if I can't climb your boyfriend like a tree, can I climb him?" You mutter, gesturing towards the boy with your cup.
Kate snorts into her drink and Reid drops down on your other side. "Did you just ask if you could climb Caleb like a tree?"
"What?!" Your eyes widen and Kate cackles. "That's Caleb? Caleb Danvers?!" You whisper shout. Reid can only laugh hard in response, you then elbowing him. "Shut up, Garwin!"
"Oh man, I can't believe you want to jump Caleb."
"If you say anything, I will show everyone very unflattering pics of you when you were going through puberty! We're going to the same school now, Reid. Choose wisely."
"Fine... fine. I won't say anything."
"Y/N?" Glancing up, you find Caleb smiling down at you in awe. "Tyler didn't tell me you were gonna be here."
"Surprise..." you nervously cheer. Kate and Reid both snort, but it's Reid you push off the driftwood. Then quickly standing up you embrace Caleb in a more than cozy, welcoming hug. "It's so good to see you. I almost didn't recognize you."
"Apparently milk really does do the body good." The statement is muttered by Kate which then sends Reid into more peals of laughter.
"Alright, lightweight, I'm cutting you off." Pogue plucks the cup from his girlfriend's hand, he then passing it to Tyler who gets rid of it. Then pulling Kate to her feet, he gestures for Tyler to follow them while casting you a more than obvious wink.
Reid smirks at the both of you and you realize a little too late that you and Caleb are still wrapped around each other. Clearing your throat, you awkwardly untangle yourself from him and step back. The blonde then takes his leave with a muttered excuse which leaves you and Caleb shyly glancing at each other.
Tucking his hands into his jean pockets, Caleb makes a quick gesture with his head to follow. You do. "So how long are you in for?" He wonders.
"For good," you grin.
Caleb's eyes crinkle as he smiles. "How'd you manage that?"
"There may or may not have been some wonderfully fake tears. And some pouting with a whole lot of guilt tripping dad about distancing me from my twin."
"You always were the devious one," he chuckles.
"And don't you forget it." Hip checking Caleb only makes his smile all the more genuine.
"So what exactly have you been up to? Break many hearts in Salem?" He then teases.
Your nose wrinkles and you take a moment to answer as you sidestep some rowdy teens. "Believe it or not, I only dated once."
"And..?"
"And it wasn't what I thought it'd be," you shrug. "I knew the guy for a couple of months, we started dating, but it wasn't... I just wasn't feeling it. I felt uncomfortable and weird when things got a little.."
Caleb laughs, cutting you off as he steps in front of you and places his hands on your shoulders. Glancing down, his amused gaze meets yours. "I get it." You huff an embarrassed laugh, but he continues on. "Some people feel more comfortable dating someone they've known for years and trust completely before taking that next step. When it's right, you'll know."
"I guess. It's not really a priority. If it happens, it happens. If not, then I'm more than content to watch all the eye candy on Spencer's swim team."
"You know I'm on the swim team. Right?"
You waggle your eyebrows, laughing when you see Caleb blush thanks to the nearby fire lighting up his features. As the two of you fall silent, you watch as his expression slowly falls. His brow furrows and when he straightens up you see his eyes bleed black as a ring of fire erupts within. Gulping, you glance around to make sure no one is staring at the two of you.
"Caleb? What's going on?"
He breathes in deeply before his eyes return back to normal. "Someone's Used."
"Crap."
"Come on." His hand grasps yours and he tugs you along beside him as he stalks off in a certain direction.
You're well aware when his fingers tangle with yours, but you don't say anything. Not even when the warmth and roughness of his hand makes your heart beat wildly for someone you should not even be thinking of in a romantic way.
You glance up at him, but his attention is solely focused on finding out whoever is using their power. Others, however, have taken notice of Caleb Danvers holding hands with the new girl. The boys are almost discreet with their stares, but the girls are openly glaring and sizing you up.
"Reid!" Your attention snaps to the crowd gathering in front of you, Pogue struggling to hold back both Tyler and Reid- Reid being the most aggressive. "What the hell is going on here?" Caleb demands.
"Aaron heard about the new girl in town," Pogue shouts over the argument going on, his gaze briefly darting to you. "Said something about it not being long until... until he has her on her back underneath him."
Caleb tenses and your eyes narrow. "Which douchebag is Aaron?"
"Y/N, don't." Caleb says.
But you're not hearing him and you walk forward, you tugging your hand free of his. Pogue grins at you before muttering something to the other two Sons, they then backing off. "So who's the cocky asshole that's so sure he's going to get me on my back?"
"Oh, shit," Reid laughs. "You guys have done it now."
"If they hit her back, all bets are off," you hear your twin mutter.
Keeping your gaze forward, you seek out the one curly haired individual who's sporting a busted lip and grinning. "Who's asking, sweetheart?"
"I ain't your sweetheart, dick." You rear your right arm back, fisting your hand and swinging forward. Aaron curses as your fist connects with his nose, his buddies pushing you back as you shriek and shake out your now throbbing hand.
Pogue, Tyler and Reid all rage in your defense and you grunt as someone catches you. Hearing a chuckle, you crane your head up and find Caleb. "You done, baby girl? You're gonna start a riot, you know."
"Don't turn this on me, Danvers. I had to show these idiots that I won't take their shit lying down. Besides, I'm not the one who Used. Remember? Get after my idiot brother or Reid. We all know it was either one of them since Pogue follows in your footsteps and won't Use unless necessary."
"Mhm. Don't go far," Caleb muses, his gaze darting to the escalating drama unfolding just a few feet away. "As soon as I squash this fight, I'm taking you home to ice that hand."
You quirk an eyebrow at him, lips curling in a teasing smile. "Taking me home already, Danvers? You move fast."
He chuckles and steadies you on your own two feet, ready to go intervene. "You're gonna be trouble. Aren't you?"
a thought: you are Y/N, a stranger in Salem. Having moved here with your father from a tiny little town on the otherside of the country, you're hoping that the shadows of your past will not find you here.
It's supposed to be fresh start, right?
No more nightmares (that always seem to come true), no more monsters (they can't find you here), no more horror stories besides the ones on your bookshelf.
You get a scholarship to a local private school and reclaim your spot as the quiet girl (that's who you were back home so why not keep a good thing going?), always seen in the back of the class with your nose in a book or headphones on, drawing away...until you meet Sara. She's sweet and intelligent, you like the same books and music. With her friend Kate having transferred out of school after moving away, she's looking for a roomie and you're looking for a friend.
It's almost perfect, for a little while.
Sleepovers at your house, studying in the dorm, hanging out in the library on weekdays and going home on the weekends...it's all so perfect until the night your future and dark past comd colliding together.
Because the monsters have followed your here and the only ones that can save you are the strangers from your visions...the Sons of Ipswich.
Summary: Trying to take advantage of their gym membership, reader starts working with a devastatingly attractive personal trainer. And his friend is pretty hot, too. Â
The gym was still new for you but you had been coming consistently enough that you felt comfortable there. You knew what times equipment would be available and what times the crowds would be too much (week days 3-5:30 was like competing in the Hunger Games.)
Cardio always came before strength exercises because your muscles would be too fatigued otherwise.Â
And on Tuesdays and Saturdays they played your favorite music on the loud speakers so you didnât have to bother with headphones on those days.
Still, you werenât an expert by any means.Â
In fact, you were still hesitant to call yourself a gym-goer because youâd seen the workouts other people did and you definitely werenât doing that. There was no strategy, you just did what you felt like doing on any given day. You were impressed by their discipline though.
Maybe, most likely, it would benefit you to incorporate some of that into your own routine.
The gym had a personal trainer program and you figured that would be the best betâmuch easier than trying to figure it out on your own.
Poking around the website, you found the section that explained the process. The design was modern and intuitive, and it was easy to book an appointment: the only information you needed to provide was your name, the date/time, and what trainer you wanted.
The first two things were easy to fill out but the last had you a little stumped; you werenât familiar enough with any of the trainers to request anyone by name even with the drop-down menu that listed out all of the choices. For a second, you were tempted to forget about the whole thing but luckily, there was an option for âno preferenceâ and anxiety levels dropped off as you selected it.
Appointment booked, you went on with the rest of your night, focus shifting to what sounded good to eat for dinner.
A week later, you found yourself in the gymâs front lobby, arms crossed and foot tapping. Since it was the first time, there was no harm in arriving early. The directions on the website had said to wait there for the trainer but so far there was no sign of them. Granted, there was still five minutes until the scheduled start so it would be unfair to start complaining about them just yet.
Rolling your neck to alleviate some of the tension, you paused mid-stretch, neck awkwardly craned like a gaggling turkey, when a man walked out. He was without a doubt the most attractive man youâd seen at the gym to date.
Thick dark hair that curled just above his ears. Warm brown eyes and an even warmer smile. Tanned skin that wrapped around arms that had just the right amount muscle: toned but not bulky. All in all, a good looking man.
You tracked him as he glanced around the area, looking for somethingâhis eyes suddenly met yours and you straightened up in embarrassmentâor someone. âY/N?â he questioned.
You throat was so dry, it was painful to swallow. âThatâs me.â
It didnât seem possible but his smile grew even brighter. He stuck his hand out. âNice to meet you. Iâm Caleb and Iâll be your trainer today.â
Good karma most certainly at work here. How else could you explain being lucky enough to have the hottest guy in the gym be the trainer? Whatever the case, you werenât going to look this particular gift horse in the mouth.
He gestured you forward with a wave of his hand and followed you to the main workout area. There was slight pressure to staying cool and collected with him behind you.Â
âIâm going to start you off with some jogging to warm-up. Do you want to use the track or hop on a treadmill?â
âTreadmill is fine. Itâs what I normally use.â
You stepped up onto the belt and fiddled with the settings to establish a pace you felt comfortable with. The machine started up with a loud hum and your arms and legs began to pump. Normally, youâd have your earphones in to distract yourself with music but they werenât that day so that you could hear Caleb if he said anything to you.
Good thinking, really, since he did indeed start chatting.
âSo how long have you been a member?â he asked.
Determined not to sound steady, you took a few moments to normalize your breathing. âAbout two months. But this is the first time Iâve worked with a professional,â you added at the end.
It was hard to hear his laugh over the treadmill but the hitching of his shoulders gave him away. âThanks, but Iâm not really a professional. I just have a training certification is all.â
Huh. Attractive and humble. If you werenât careful, youâd develop a full-blown crush in no time.
âA certification sounds professional to me,â you insisted. There. That wasnât flirty at all. You were merely sharing an opinion.
Jogging passed by faster than it usually did even without music. Evidently, all that was needed to make a run enjoyable was good conversation and an even better view.Â
You powered off the treadmill and gradually transitioned to a walk and then a full stop. A single bead of sweat trailed down the side of your face but before you could wipe it away, only to stumble after being patted on the back by Caleb.Â
Those muscles were not just for show.
You had mixed feelings about him giving you props for completing the warm up. On one hand, you were a little insulted because even you could handle jogging for ten minutes. On the other, it was nice to have him flatter you. And he seemed to type to mean his compliments.
âThanks,â you said almost like a question as you plopped down to stretch.
âReally,â he insisted. There wasnât any level of patronizing tone that you could detect. âYouâd be surprised by how many people I work with that complain about running.â
âReally?â you exclaimed with surprise. âI wouldnât say I love running but itâs not terrible. Better than swimming anyway.â
âWhoa, now. Iâll have you know that I was a big swimmer in high school.â
The friendly banter about the woes, or in his case, the highs of swimming got you through the stretches he showed you. Occasionally, there would be a pause while he corrected your posture but once you fixed your position, the banter started up again. Â
Finally, you conceded, âI will admit that swimming did wonders for your shoulders though.â
He looked away with a bow of his head. He smiled but it was closed lipped, no teeth on display. Oops. That comment may have been a bit too forward. Rather than draw more attention to it, you diverted attention to the actual work out.
Seeming to be of the same mind, Caleb dropped it, too, and set you up at a weight bench. He mustâve have seen the doubt on your face.
âDonât worry,â he assured. âIâm not going to have you squatting 300 pounds or anything crazy. Here. Take this and weâll start with some dumb bell rows.â
He handed you a twenty-pound weight, the smooth metal cool against your palm. The weight was noticeable but not so heavy you struggled to hold it. A month or two of this and your arms would actually tone out pretty nice.
You peered subtly at Caleb behind you. You wouldnât be at Calebâs level, not just after a couple weeks but then again, you doubted most people could measure up to him even after working out everyday for a year straight.
Someone people had all the good genes.
You couldâve complained but found it much more enjoyable to appreciate the good view. In fact, it was the view that got you through the rest of the season.
âThanks,â you panted around the mouth of your water bottle. A bead of sweat ran down your neck and you reached to wipe it off.
âYou did great, really,â he said, the epitome of what a good trainer should sound like. âThe scariest step is always to start so signing up for additional personal training will be a piece of cake.â
âY-yeah.â Suddenly, your shoe laces fascinated you. âSoâŠif I want to do thatâmore of this...do I choose you on from that list of trainers?â
âSure thing. Or if youâd prefer to try someone else, all of the trainers are fantastic choices.â
âI think Iâll stick with you. As long as thatâs not weird or anythingâŠâ
âNope, not weird.â
You worked up the courage to look him in the eyes. Swirling irises of molten brown, you couldnât help but be drawn into them. âSame time next week then?â
âSame time next week,â he agreed with a nod.
***
It had been a little over a month since you had started working with Caleb at the gym and what had started as one personal training session a week had turned into two, sometimes three. Improvement was happening steadily and you definitely felt a difference in your stamina.
Strangely enough, you were even proud of the small callouses that were starting to develop on the tops of your palms, under the fingers. They werenât classically beautiful but at least you had proof of the work you were doing.
Having worked up the confidence, youâd also started doing some of the exercises Caleb showed you on your own. It was on one such day that you met him.
Another gym babe.
The first thing you noticed was his ass. Literally. He was in prime squat position and his short, though knee length and loose as they may be, could not hide his toned glutes.
You were embarrassed to admit that you were totally ogling him, like a dog looked at a prime cut of meat. You didnât get star struck often, but damn.
The universe must have sought to punish you for the lack of propriety and your mp3 slipped through your sweaty fingers onto the moving treadmill, yanking the earphones out of your ears along with it as it flew backwards on the conveyor belt.
Recovering from the stumble your mp3 caused, you turned off the machine and gingerly picked out the music player, preparing for the worst.
Miraculously, the screen was still in tact and sounds was still coming through the earphones. You took another sigh of relief when you realized he was preoccupied by his own workout and hadnât seen your embarrassing moment.
Something similar happened the next time you saw him a few days later: he was cooling down after having thoroughly trounced the heavy bag in the small boxing set-up the gym had. His arms looked so good in his cut-off tank (muscles and veins were all on display) that you froze with your mouth hanging wide open.
Another gym-goer did catch you that time but at least it wasnât the god sculpted from marble.
You almost felt bad, like you were cheating on one of your crushâs with another which was ridiculous because Caleb was just a trainer and you didnât even know the other oneâs name.
Who knew that so much drama could happen in the confines of a simple neighborhood gym? Seriously, The Bachelor wished it could have as many good options as the gym seemed to.

You huffed as you pushed yourself up on increasing shaky arms. For a few seconds, you honestly didnât think youâd be able to do it as your arms got stuck at a forty-five degree angle. Digging deep down, you managed to fully extend your arms.
âNine,â Caleb counted. He was kneeling besides you on the yoga mat, counting, and adjusting your form here and there, while you did push-ups
Rather than descend slowly as was proper for push-ups, you collapsed to the mat with your arms squished underneath your chest. Rolled your head, you gave him your best pleading eyes and hoped he might take mercy.
That hope was misplaced. He gave a sympathetic smile and shook his head negatively. âSorry, Y/N. We agreed on ten and by my count, you still have one more to go.â
âCan I not and say that I did?â
âCome on now. Itâs only one more.â He waved his hands around like he was waving imaginary pom-poms. âYou can do it!â
You managed a weak laugh. There was no way you couldâve say no. Your arms felt like they were burning but he looked adorable trying to be a cheerleader. An unbidden image of him wearing a cute male cheerleading uniform flashed in your mind and you thought he would pull one off well, what with his wide shoulders and sculpted legs.
Imagination got you through the last push-up and you groaned as you turned over on the mat, spread out like a star fish. âThat was absolute torture.â
Caleb opened his mouth but was interrupted by a newcomer.
âGeez, man. You need to take it easier on your clients.â
Recognizing the voice, you found the other gym guy youâd been eyeing standing above you.
âPogue.â Caleb held his fist out to the man who in turned bumped his with the trainerâs. Evidently, they knew each other.
Then they embraced in a full-on hug.
Okay, so they definitely knew each other. And it was hard to miss the parting caress to Pogueâs shouldersâwhat kind of name was Pogue anyway?âthat was generally reserved for two people that were close.
Were they related? Dating, perhaps?
Your imagination fired up again and you wondered what they would look like wrapped even more intimately with one anotherâŠwhich was entirely despicable, you reminded yourself. There was no proof they were romantically involved, and, even if they were, it was none of your business.
The other two, who had been talking while you were maladaptively fantasizing, had continued talking and their conversation now turned to you.
âSo whoâs this?â Pogue questioned politely.
âThis is Y/N,â Caleb introduce you. âTheyâre one of the people I work with.â
Pogue stuck his hand out to shake. âNice to meet you. Iâm glad Caleb hasnât killed you off yet.â
âHey! I am extremely fair with workouts, arenât I, Y/N?â
âHe is,â you said with a small smile, rocking on your feet. âBesides, he way too nice to ever become a drill sergeant.â
Pogue shoved Caleb lightly and Caleb elbowed him in return. âI know he doesnât look like the type, but he was quite the drill sergeant back when we were both swimmers. He just hides the competitive instinct under his charming smiles.â
That peaked your curiosity. âNo way, you guys swam together back in the day?â
âSpencer Academy was state champs three years running in our time,â Caleb admitted. âBut nowadays I do my thing with personal training and Pogue more into MMA.â
âMMA?â you questioned.
âMixed Martial Arts,â Caleb supplied. âYouâve probably seen him hogging the punching bags in the back.â
You most certainly had but you werenât about to confess that to either of them. It would be too embarrassing and might even toe the line of harassment.
âYou are more than welcome to share bags with me, any time,â Pogue grinned teasingly.
A thought hit and flowed out of your mouth before you could stop it. âYou guys should give me a lesson sometime.â
âOh. I didnât know you were interested in that sort of thing,â Caleb said, surprise coloring his voice.
âAre you saying that you donât think I can?â You werenât sure what made you say it. Itâs not like you were hardcore dedicated to trying it.Â
Whatever the cause it had Pogue chiming in save the situation.
âWhat prince charming means is that we would love to give a demonstration sometime.â
Caleb down at his watch because of course he still wore one instead of just using his phone like most other people. âDamn. Our hour is up Y/n and Iâm late getting my next client. But we can hit the punching bags next time, if you wantâŠ?â
âSure. Uh. Does Wednesday work for you?â
Both of the men nodded and Caleb called over his shoulder as he jogged to the lobby. âItâs a date. Schedule it online and Iâll approve it.â
The word kept replaying over and over. Date. Date. Date, date, date. He probably didnât even mean it like that but it didnât stop your heart from fluttering.
Waving goodbye to Pogue wit a promise of seeing him next week, you bounced off to grab your phone from the locker room. There was nothing wrong with scheduling your next session ASAP.
Itâs a date.
_______________
Pogue boxing does make a fetching image. Pogue and Caleb in the ring sparring together even more so. Debating whether to make a part 2.Â
Caleb always seems to be the hardest for me to write so I hope he sounded okay in this. This has been sitting in my drafts for a while and I decided to finally post it.Â
Summary: Yet another post based off of this by @saviorsong. Caleb attempts to plan a nice vacation get away with reader. Dedicated to @dhampiravidiâ for the belated birthday!
Caleb paced back and forth. He stopped, put both hands on his head. He sighed deeply then turned around to the front desk.
You watched all this from your spot in the passenger seat of the car where it was parked in front the bed and breakfast. Caleb had gone all out and planned a weekend trip for just the two of you, âsomething to celebrate the end of summerâ were his exact words. Â
What he really meant was that he planned an extravagant trip for your birthday.
And in typical Caleb fashion, heâd spent weeks finding the best of everything. The best town, lodging, restaurants, attractions, the whole ten yards.
That was the thing about Caleb: he was super thoughtful and details really mattered to him. So when the bed and breakfast website had said the room would be ready for check-in at three, he had planned to be in the room at 3:01 sharp. Â
You glanced at the time displayed on the dash. It was now almost 3:25
Judging by that, along with Calebâs actions, you had a hunch that things were running behind.
You waited as he walked out and sat down in the car.
He was silent.
Normally, heâd be doing his best to explain things to you in that calm, soothing way of his. If he wasnât doing that, it meant he was still processing and panicking.
Deciding to help him out, you rested a hand on his shoulder. He looked over with anxious eyes that had you cooing sympathetically. âHey, hey. Whatâs the matter, baby? Come on, you can tell me.â
âUgh.â His head lulled backwards, knocking into the carâs headrest, and he reached for your hand to give it a firm squeeze. âThe room was supposed to be ready at three oâclockâŠI literally built the whole itinerary around that time.â
Just as you had suspected then. âHow much later did they say it was going to be?â
âAbout another hour,â he said, frustration heavy in his voice. âThere was this music lecture I was planning to take you to at four, and we have dinner reservations at five. I figured weâd need some downtime in the room to get cleaned up before all that, too, which is why I planned for three.â
Early on in the relationship, when Caleb had told you he was a Virgo, you had laughed. Not everyone fit into their sun sign category but he certainly did. He was methodical with everything that he did and was always trying to fix your problems, even those fixes were preemptive.
So it wasnât surprising that he not only built in time for you to shower, knowing that you always felt a little gross after traveling, but that he also a sequential schedule based off of it.
Many would have pointed out that him being the oldest sibling, even if it wasnât technically by blood, had a lot to do with his personality, but you held firm that it because of the stars.
âWell, how about we just skip the lecture?â
â⊠But I really wanted to take you to that. The speaker has a really interesting background inââ
You silenced him with a kiss. Nothing too obnoxious. Just a soft, lingering press of lips.
He remained tense at first but gradually his mouth relaxed as did his shoulders.
Finally.
You pulled back and he tried to follow, only for you to stop him by placing a finger against his lips. âNow that youâve calmed down, hereâs what weâre going to do.â
Realizing you were being serious he straightened out and listened expectantly.
âWe are going to skip this very cool lectureâyes, we are and you canât change my mind,â you insisted as he was about to interrupt. âIt sounds great but if we donât make it, itâs no big deal and it will not ruin this trip. Besides, getting ready for dinner is a much better use of time.â
He was still hesitant. âAre you sure? I know life has been hectic lately and I wanted to make sure your birthday was perfect.â
âPositive. Iâm sure you have a bunch of other cool stuff planned for the rest of the week, anyway.â
âI guess there is the yoga at sunrise thing I wanted to check out at the park,â he admitted much to your dismay. Waking up early wasnât too bad but exercise at dawn? The things you did for love. âOh, and thereâs an occult tour tomorrow.â
You gave him a look. âAre we going on this tour just so you can poke fun at the inaccuracies?â
âWhy else would I have signed us up?â The two of you shared a laugh. âBut now that you mention it, maybe I should go back in there and Use. You know, to get the room faster.â
âCaleb Danvers, I swear I will litter your car with all of my food wrappers. Do not test me.â
He leaned for another kiss, his brown eyes warm, and whispered, âLove you.â
_______________
Itâs still summer, right? Right! At least for a few more weeks. Thanks for reading! The Covenant tumblr presence is pretty small so I appreciate every single one of you taking time to check out my stuff :)))
Summary: Another drabble exchange with @saviorsong. Who knew that Caleb was such an enthusiastic singer? (Sorry for the wait!)Â
âSorry the wait, babe,â you called out from the front hall. Taking off your shoes, you grabbed the handles of the plastic take-out bags to move them to the kitchen counter. âI promise it still smells fantastic!âÂ
It was a lazy weekend afternoon and the two of you had been hanging around the house. When lunch rolled around, youâd mutually decided on the Oyster House downtown. They had the best shellfish in the city, and with September being the start of oyster season, it was hard to resist.Â
Everyone else mustâve had the same idea because even though you called ahead to place an order, you still spent twenty minutes at the restaurant waiting for the food.Â
Opening up the cupboard for bowls, there was still no sight or sound of Caleb. âBabe!â you called and waited again. Still nothing.Â
Where was he?
As you neared the garage, you finally heard what sounded like music, electronic sounds pulsing.Â
You cracked the door and were blasted by a pop song at full volume. Caleb was bent over working on the engine of his Mustang, not noticing you as he grooved.Â
âNow Iâm lying on the cold hard ground, Oh! Oh,â he sang, putting extra oomph into the âohsâ so that he nearly drowned out Taylorâs voice. âTrouble, trouble!âÂ
He was surprised when the music turned off, his eyes large as he spun around. Â
âI think your inner Swiftie is showing, trouble.âÂ
âI have no shame in liking one of todayâs pop queens. But I wasnât singing that loud,â he scratched his neck, unsure. âWas I?âÂ
You folded him into a hug. âDonât worry--Tay doesnât hold a candle to Cay.âÂ
He snorted and gave you a sweet kiss. âIs the food ready?âÂ
âYes, so we should go eat before those poor shellfish are lying on the cold hard ground of their containers.âÂ
Laughing good-naturedly, he walked you backwards out of the garage. âThen letâs eat. Iâll finish serenading you later.â Â
