Whatever happened to this guy?

He told Miss Stacey that Rachel had invited him to walk with her that morning. And they did walk together, I wonder what came of it.

Rachel told Marilla what lengths she'd had to through to find a suitor for Miss Stacey, but hoped that she would reconsider her Caleb! Lol. I really hope that Miss Stacey chooses what she thinks best for her- be it her beloved independence OR another shot at love.

I reckon that the mystery guy will make an appearance in the County fair or we'd have more Mama's boi madness.

Can we talk about the contrast between how Miss Stacy and Caleb danced together during the demonstration versus how Anne and Gilbert danced together.

From the demonstration with Miss Stacy and Caleb and the other adults we were shown how the pattern of the dance is supposed to go and how the dance itself isn’t inherently romantic. People who are uninterested in each other can dance it without having to make much eye contact or physical contact if they don’t want to. Just go through the motions as it were.

Then we have Anne and Gilbert dancing together. They maintain eye contact the whole time. They disrupt the pattern in order to be closer and dance more together. They hold hands longer than anyone else. Throughout the scene you can see them already holding hands while they move to take the person on the other side of them’s hand or people in the background are just starting to reach for each other’s hands.

The comparison between how people dance when they are uninterested in each other versus interested in each other is just *chef’s kiss*

Watch Caleb be a narc and tell his mom about what happened in his dance group “the blythe boy kept messing up the formation to dance with the redhead”

Then Rachel the gossip that she immediately scuffles her way over to Green Gables to tell Marilla

And Marilla is like “Really? It must not have been a big deal because Anne never mentioned anything about Gilbert after school. She was actually all worked up about something Charlie Sloane said about how she would be infertile or something”

And then Rachel is like 😮 “what is with the youths these days!”

Caleb Lynde

Caleb was such a lost puppy for Miss Stacey, I can't. Like he spent the literal afternoon pining for a lady who's probably never gonna reciprocate his feelings. When he danced with her, he couldn't believe he was actually holding her hand, dude he looked at his hand in awe when she let go during the dance!

Then, when he couldn't dance with her- he kept shooting glances and heart-eyes (guys, only shirbert don't have a monopoly on those lol) at her. He wasn't interested in the dance in the least so he aided in God's work aka letting Gilbert get away with breaking the rules.

Miss Stacey may not be interested in him but he has my respect! Also, I think he will be genuinely heartbroken when this guy comes along to ruin his slim chances.

I have a weird feeling that Rachel does not know who this man is. He's just acting as if she sent him as suitor. Idk how my mind works.
