Calico patterns and other adventures

So today, mum and I went to get fitted for calico patterns. If you don't know what that is, it's a cloth pattern fitted to your specific shape, that you can then use to make your own patterns. The lady in the shop, Melanie also showed us how to make a cowl neck, A-line skirt and a panel dress, all from the calico, which was pretty cool. I also now have a magnetic MacGuffin which should hopefully help me to sew in straight lines as heaven knows I need all the help I can get! I also got a new pattern, for a waistcoat, so I might be able to sneak a certain amount steampunk aesthetic into my everyday wear :3.
