Womanizer review
"He's the last man standing, but can she make him fall?"
If the sexy man on the front cover isn't enough to grab your attention to read this book, that single line printed next to an impressive profile will definitely do the trick. Callan Carmichael is an embodiment of all things sexy in one gorgeous human being and not just because of the way he looks, but also because of the things he does and the way he does them. From the way he quirks an eyebrow to the way his mouth forms a cocky smirk to the way he takes a drag out of a cigarette; it's all so intoxicating. I've never been a huge fan of anyone who smokes, but I've got a thing for the way Callan smokes. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who can rave on and on about every single thing about this man and never get tired of doing so. Olivia Roth would definitely agree with me on this as well. Olivia, or Livvy as her friends and family call her, is one ambitious southern soul. It's the Roth blood that runs through her, having the same type of dedication and determination that we've seen in Tahoe. It's admirable the way she doesn't sway from her goals either, of course, that is until she meets THE Callan Carmichael. Womanizer is the next installment of the Manwhore series. We've seen Malcolm Saint give up his manwhore ways, we've witnessed Tahoe Roth give up the life of a ladies man, and now readers will witness if this man can give up the style of a womanizer for this girl, a new intern and his best friend's little sister.
For Olivia Roth, there has always been one set career that she will do anything to achieve. When things don't work out the way she was hoping at the company she's currently at, she takes an internship at her brother's best friend's company, Carma. Packing her bags, she makes the move from Austin to Chicago for a summer adventure she's hoping will be worth it. Olivia makes it well known to her brother that she wants no favors after his best friend brings her aboard to intern. She wants to earn everything she hopes to gain at this internship and is dead set on not being handed anything. Things are going well, too. She has respect for her boss, the other interns aren't too awful, and she befriends this Hot Smoker Guy up on the building's terrace. Fate would have a laugh though when this man, whom she assumed to be a mailman, turns out to be none other than the infamous best friend of her brother and CEO of Carma, Callan Carmichael. There's instant attraction and the spark between Olivia and Callan is strong enough to set fire to Chicago, but Callan is not one to settle and Olivia has her own dreams to think of. Womanizer becomes a journey of whether or not these two will give in to what they feel or if they're too headstrong to let them have what their heart desires.
As every other book written by this woman has done, Katy made me fall in love with these two in the most beautiful way. Olivia, as confident as she is with everything else in her life, finds herself torn between that confidence and a mess of nerves when it comes to Callan and it's wonderful to witness through Katy's words. The intimacy between Callan and Olivia is beyond steamy. Their chemistry left me weak at the knees and entirely hot and bothered. I could feel what they felt all the way down to my toes, but that's just another signature aspect that Katy Evans brings to her characters and her books. If the previous books of the Manwhore series left you panting, Womanizer will have you feeling some type of the way when Callan and Olivia give into their primal desires.
My favorite part of Womanizer, if I had to choose, was that Olivia does indeed make the last man standing fall and the way he falls leaves me breathless. He truly had no idea what was about to hit him when this woman stepped out onto the terrace to join him.
It doesn't take long and it doesn't take much for Callan to be mesmerized by Olivia and it takes even less for him to realize that she means more than any other woman has meant and that she means more than he had intended for the rebellious newbie intern to mean. That heartbreaking moment when Tahoe finds out about his best friend and his little sister and calls Callan out on how long he planned on sticking around absolutely destroyed me because it was clear that Callan hadn't really thought about it, but he also hadn't planned on leaving, even if he wasn't ready to admit it. The phone call he made to Tahoe before making it his mission to tell Olivia that she was it for him and that all other goals and dreams he had and she had paled in comparison to being together, officially and completely. Callan is the type of hero that doesn't believe he deserves what, or should I say whom, he has in front of him when it comes to Olivia, but when realization hits him that not only does he deserve her, but she's what he's been missing all this time, it's earth shattering and breathtaking.
Katy Evans created another masterpiece in Womanizer and it was the perfect addition to this series. Callan will leave readers aching and breathless and Olivia will reach into everyone's hearts throughout the entire story. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for a new read. I knew from Manwhore, when Callan was first introduced to readers that I was going to be eager to read his story and I could not have been more right. I am one of the most impatient people ever but Callan was worth the wait. Womanizer will pull at you in the most painful and most beautiful ways, leaving readers hanging on each and every word. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something steamy and new to read.
